This is an incredible idea! I've looked through the entire collection, and these photos are wonderful. Yotam is going to be so grateful for this when he is older and looks back upon it. I wish my parents could have done something like this for me! You have inspired me to do the same when (G-d willing!) I have children

btw, I don't think I need to mention it (because it's quite obvious!), but Yotam is an absolutely stunning little boy!

I would have to say that this is the best out of the series so far. I can see the real personality, as in some of the photos later on, there are actual poses. This is all natural. Looks STUNNING. +fave

This is amazing idea - I mean the idea of making photos every year. When looking at them, one can see how Your son is changing, growing. Wonderful.

wow, this is an amazing project. you've done an excellent job with it. he's definately going to appreciate this when he's a lot older. i've always thought about how amazing it would be to take a photo of your child every day/week, keeping the view of the camera in propertion to the size of the child, and then making an animation out of it. it might end up really choppy and hard to watch, but if you use a photo as 1/30 of a second, it might end up looking really neat. I don't know. Anyway, I saw them all. Great job. I hope I end up seeing the rest of them.

These three portraits of your son are absolutely adorable. I started in 2005, and worked backwards. I love the little baby curls and the silly grin with few teeth. Great idea, you should surely do this until he wont let you or you cant. I imagine when hes like thirty and moved out, even if you dont talk very often through the majority of the year, there will always be the traditional portrait taking meeting. I dont know. I wish my parents took more pictures of me as a little kid. Im only 17, so its not like time is lost. But yeah, maybe he'll appreaciate it, or his future wife. I dont know. nice work!

I like this a lot for a variety of reasons. While going to the start of your gallery i saw the thumbnail of "reflection of innocence" and I think this captures that innocence in a way. In a lot of the pictures I am at awe at the deep reflectiveness in his facial expression and just how untainted he is. Some look like he is about to cry or unhappy others are reflective, and happy, yet none have hate or anger.

I think some of us lose this in our old age. I know I don't like pics of me at present, yet find myself quite attractive, but see the reflection of feelings in my photos that I dislike. Yet pics of me being younger before I became so "pessimistic" i quite enjoy. So I can appreciate this piece a lot.

i saw "yotam - 2004" first, but i decided to comment in chronological order.

first off:

there is not one bad thing i can find with this series (or single submission for that matter). not one flaw, not one thing that i can critique, or tell you what to improve upon. what i can tell you, is what i like, what i love, what makes this outstanding.

him. his face. every bit about him, every emotion. you've captured it all. zoomed in. zoomed out. to the left. to the right. every expression, every focus, everything about him. his smile, his stare, his gaze.

the lighting is perfect, and i love the layout of the pictures, and the simplicity of everything. excellent, excellent deviation.

you are one of the few talented deviants, i salute you.

*pssssssst*

Dude. Y'know how I do those journal entries for my series? I think that may be easier for you too, instead of editing each deviation that you've made before as well.

Particularly if you're going to be doing one every year.

Just a thought.

Lovin' him, the sweet lil' thing.

Ohhh, I see what you mean.
How exactly do you do that?

iagen In reply to gilad [2004-09-12 11:48:37 +0000 UTC]

Since you've already got a few pieces up, it's pretty simple. (It's a pain in the ass when you're trying to submit a deviation that's part of a series AND a journal ABOUT the series at the same time, because people online will at first see one but not the other and get dead links. )

Just copy the links to both of these deviations (up to you if you want to link deviation or full view, I tend to link the full view), create a new journal and give it some sort of identifying name so you can find it easily later. Paste the links into there, add whatever other text you want to (description of what the series is about is a good start) and then submit the journal.

Then go back to those deviations, and edit their descriptions to include the link to the journal instead of each other. That way you only ever have to include one link in the deviation descriptions every time you add another piece to the series, and you just update the JOURNAL and repost that whenever you make a new instalment.

I wish there was an automated way of doing that, but dA doesn't seem to have that feature, so it's simple HTML for now.

Hope that helps!
