This is my entry for the "street fighter 4 inside cover contest". I only found out about the event on Monday, I'm just glad I found out about it in time to make it in. I missed out on the udon fanart one because of crazy workloads at the time, so this was also to make up for that... to myself- haha.The sketches you saw were to prepare for making an entry. The strange thing about their requirement for entries was the horizontal shape... that threw me off a bit as you could image... Ryu and his cascading waterfall and all. I was so tempted to finish the picture vertically and then flip it sideways.
If I had more time I would have loved to try adding the characters in the waterfall, dripping like paint, rather than the sf4 logo.

Can easily say this has to be the best SF4 fan art I've seen, PERIOD.
It has your feel especially around the nose and chin, maybe the coloring adds to that as well but really feels like it blends in nicely with the SF style.

I had mixed feelings about the concept of that book project overall but I have to say if I saw this on the inside cover, I would probably end up buying the book.

Hm, don't mind a little crit on this one do ya? I think his left arm's shadow is a bit too even, and made it a bit flat... perhaps you can tweak that shadow value a little bit.
Overall it's a great pic. I like the richness in the coloring and the expression. Like Dav mentioned. ^_^ Best of wishes to the contest.

Nice work on the muscle definition, and the waterfall is great too. Most importantly, you've captured Ryu's look here. Hope the people running the contest actually respond!

Yo Eric! Wonderful Ryu you've got there. Hope you make it in, you've got my support all the way. I like the use of blue color you have for the shadow in both the skin and the hair. The only thing I might want to add on this, is that the gloves seem a little flat in comparison to the rest of the piece. I don't know, maybe a little more darkened value or textured shading would bump it up a little. Overall, wonderful piece.

Hey Gingashi, your Ryu looks great. You got the attitude and feel of the character down pat. Water is always hard to render, let alone to do a waterfall itself.
I'm just trying to figure out when this contest is over and where I can find info on it...

ahhhh! so cool! i like it alot, pose, and composition. though if there was only one thing i'd have added, it would have been more light. like, the sam shading you have except i'd have maybe made a gradient from white to transparent from top to bottom, then, kinda faded it out for that it just looks like light hits him most at the top of his head.
but only that ONE thing, the rest of this piece is really fuckin amazng.

So happy ya like it dude! I definitely tried out the light source for him, but the waterfall is so light in color it almost all faded away- so instead I did the opposite and darkened the top- and faded down. It's on a super low opacity though so may not be noticable.
