The mantis i ve seen stay low. The only way to find them is walk slowly, and watch for any tiny movement. Since you track them, they usually stay at this spot and all you have to do is make gentle moves. They always reward you with nice shots, as they seem to make different expressions with their eyes and body. Keep looking..

I'm thinking about planting some orchids next spring to see if I can lure any orchid mantis in. My parents plant Garden Phlox and Cockscomb and I've had a full few weeks of new and interesting bugs because of it.

I don't know if there are many Mantids indigenous to Arkansas though. I'll have to do some research.
