Tada! The first appearance of my friend Naffles (Claire) REBORN. XD Don't ask why she's with the Doctor, I don't think we've really figured it out yet. The only thing you might need to know is that Happy Numbers were mentioned in the episode 42. The explination of them almost made MY head explode.Original drawing over here [link]

I had to do my Scantron testing for school last night. This was exactly how I felt looking at every single problem I was given. I hate math. I can't do math. Whoever decided Algebra was something amazingly important to learn should be smacked. That is all.

Well I guess I'll just have to like math more, to make up for everybody who doesn't. Besides, happy numbers are pretty darn easy. Twenty-eight, for example:
28^2=784 and 7+8+4=19
19^2=361 and 3+6+1=10
10^2=100 and 1+0+0=1

i still don't get it XD i see how you used the digits of the sum but how does the product of the second problem make it a happy number?

To test if a number is happy:
1. Multiply the number by itself
2. Add the digits of the result together.
3. Repeat steps 1 and two.
4. If you eventually end up with one, it is a happy number.

23 becomes 2^2+3^3 which is 4 plus 9, 13
which becomes 1 and 3, then 1 and 9, then
10, which is 1, which is prime.

I love the doctor's face in the second panel. It's like: "But... but.. those poor happy numbers! What have they ever done to you??"

I feel like this in Physics a lot...There is the good exploded where your brain stays within your skull and little cleaners come and put it back together agian (this is the result of a cool physics fact that is hard to get your head around, like when you jump, the floor and earth moves downwards...) And then there is the nasty exploded where bits of skull end up embedded in the head of the genius sitting next to you while mushed brain drips from fringe (The result of not being able to do the maths involved)....

I have a friend who does that to me all the time. Conversations usually go as follows:
Me: "I hate [insert subject here, probably math related]"
Them: "Why? What about [insert part of said subject that she enjoys"
Me: "Because [insert explanation]. No, not even the bits you enjoy"
Them: "[insert long-winded lecture on above subject, usually ending up turning into an equally long-winded lecture on something else entirely]"

I was just watching "42" the other day; and my head exploded as the doctor explained it. Thing is, i didn't get it; so i asked my dad about it. He explained it the EXACT same what as the doctor did! Damn those smart peoples!
