Description After the original fossil discovery was made a hundred years ago it was discovered that these Pokemon are far younger than the parts they were fused with and even the information the discoverers said was entirely fabricated, just like the monsters made of them Basilathan  and Basilsio . these are the first whale Pokemon and are closely related to OrcarassOrcarapace  and Orcontinent .

Orkacrunch
water
the origin whale Pokemon
ability= water absorb, depth diver (two turn moves have a chance to go for three turns for increased power etc dive, skull bash)

Orkacrunch was from a time long after the fossil Pokemon era but before our own using its thick set jaw and pointed teeth to prey on anything in the sea. they were one of the apex predators only being rivalled by Basilowhale its evolution, Orkacrunch was a very aggressive Pokemon as shown from the sheer amount of its teeth found and the healed damage to jaw fossils found.

-evolves into-

Basilowhale
water
the origin whale Pokemon
ability= water absorb, depth diver (two turn moves have a chance to go for three turns for increased power etc dive, skull bash)

using its size to its advantage it would prey on Pokemon swimming between islands and steal prey from smaller Basilowhale and Orkacrunch. it has large cheek muscles for crushing shell, bone and cartalidge. it didn't yet have large diving lungs to reach extreme depths but found plenty of prey on the shore, they must have became deep divers as they evolved closer to modern whale Pokemon.

Giliowhale  have convergently evolved to look similar

You listed Basilathan twice; the other chimera 'mon is Spinothan .

Also, I think "Basilorka" would be a better name, personally, "Basilowhale" seems a bit too on the nose; also, perhaps Orkacruch could do with legs instead of flippers as a nod to the terrestrial origins of whales as a whole. The designs themselves look nice otherwise, though!

Yeah, the longer, skinnier form of the current iteration makes a lot more sense. And my suggestion was actually putting claws on the first stage only, meaning that as the evo becomes fully aquatic it loses them. So it's literal evolution as well as Pokemon's definition of the term.

Also, thanks for the correction in the description - I realized too late that it was Basilsio which I was supposed to link rather than Spinothan (I'd unfortunately confused the Basilosaurus and mosasaur lines, though in fairness they do look pretty similar). Silly me.

Ah, makes sense. XD

Looking forward to the rest of the un-scrambled fossils! I assume you might have a "lost world"-type zone to put all of them in eventually, yes? ^^
