One of the competitor teams (horse and rider) at the Wagga ODE July 2011. Just jumped the apex in the background. it was beautiful sunny weather the day before, and cold, cloudy on the day of the comp!Related content

I love how you got a moving shot. The sand or dirt coming up adds to the beauty of this photograph. I like how the horse is starting his step, it also adds to the beauty.
I know you had no control over the rider or horse in the photo, but I would have liked the rider to be looking up or be wearing a show helmet ( you know the fuzzy ones).
I wish you had the horse and rider right over the jump in action. I think that would have been splendorous.
Ok, I know i might have ben rough on you and I hope you don't think so, but I truly love this shot, and I wish I could get shots like yours. Keep up the good work.

If there is one thing I disagree with is your 'ratings'. I believe it is a "good" shot, but for several reasons (some of which you rightly pointed out) it isn't quite an "absolutely fantastic" photo. It's alright, I won't let it go to my head!
I wasn't happy with the focus of the shot of this particular horse going over the actual jump. In fact I don't think it was an AI issue, but perhaps not steady enough hand for it. But this shot however, I was quite pleased with the action, focus, framing and composition. Absolutely agree with the comments of the rider's helmet and where he was facing.
I've got lots to learn and improve on, but it's encouraging to know I'm doing some things right, too. Thanks again
