Description
A birthday gift for : her character Reiker. Reiker is a member of a species called Krovendraekk, created by I thought it would be easier to draw Reiker on black paper, since he has all that blue-black fur. I wish I were better at drawing non-humans

Drawing him on black paper was a cool idea indeed, and I really love how you captured his colouration - really looks like his very typical black with electric-blue shine, very nicely done! Hmm, he must be a young adult/teen here since his ears aren't damaged yet (they're sitting horizontal and are normal-shaped - rather than being pointed and sticking vertically like after they were damaged)
One little thing though - Reiker doesn't have visible pupils (since he has an odd recessive trait - the marble-eye gene - which means his cornea has refractive properties and appears to be pupillless - though I haven't drawn him close-up enough in colour to show this, perhaps... anyway, actually this is fairly close to how his eyes look:Ā img00.deviantart.net/27fc/i/20ā¦ Well, the reflectiveness and pupilless appearance at least, even if the colours aren't quite right)
That's just a tiny thing though and again as I said, I didn't draw him close-up enough to show this properly myself.
Nice work showing his mane too, and his visible teeth - something some people forget when drawing Krovens.
And as for drawing non-humans, I think you did a good job here - Krovens are notoriously tricky, heh, and he's clearly recognisable as the right species here - plus I can't draw humans at all, ha, so it's all a matter of preference and practise really. But good job, and thanks again!

Yes, the black paper really made this much easier. I got his pose from that picture you did of him on his way to the Hellspires, so that's why he looks young. I also pulled a few details from your Koren comparison sheet. I need to put in references...
Argh! I knew there was something unusual about his eyes, but I couldn't remember what it was. I think I got him mixed up with Jett with the heterochromatic eyes. I've actually managed to fix it somewhat, so I hope he looks more accurate now.

And yeah, it worked very well with his fur! ^^ And ah, I can see that then, makes sense where you referenced him from then.
And ha, he does have heterochromia too actually - though Jethryn has sectoral heterochromia and the blue/gold contrast is quite noticeable, Reiker on the other hand has complete heterochromia rather than sectoral, and has one silver eye and one blue eye, but the difference isn't always so noticeable - and in a bluish background his silvery eye can also look blue at a glance (like in the picture you referenced) - since his eyes are pretty reflective. But yeah, you did a good job of removing the clear visibility of the pupil with your edit, so thankyouuuu!

Ha, yes. I think I remember you telling me about hs eyes before, but I had forgotten. I guess, his eyes look a little too bluish. Do you want me to edit it again? It's not too difficult when I can find the time...
