Quote running through Grasstown.An epic doodle on old notebook; what was originally just a drawing of the back of Quote's head has become a full-fledged sketch for Cave Story in 3-D. With today's hardware, a PSP could probably handle it.

They'll have this on 3ds but the graphics are gonna be terrible...oh well. cave story is cave story, Nintendo can't possibly ruin such an epic game...right?

I think Pixel has already ruined it himself by whoring the game out to every Nintendo platform on the market. I've long gotten over the reactionary fanboy rage of commercializing a freeware legend, but I'm beginning to think I severely overestimated Daisuke Amaya's talent as a fable of indie gaming.

Yeah i think im still going through that fanboy rage thing. Also it's available for PSP...just saying... It still makes me mad that it'll be on 3ds yet i look forward to playing it on the go since i don't have a psp.

Yeah, I know I should be excited...but I've played through Cave Story so many times now that it's hard to even care. Now, if they'd translated Cave Story into actual 3D like in these drawings, I'd be pumped as hell, but as it stands, it's like Nintendo remaking the original NES Mario in 3D. AGAIN.
I am estatic about Pixel's Cave Story sequel, though!

Yeah, the challenge of recreating Grasstown in 3D was pretty daunting; I decided to make it a series of tunnels with grass growing thickly out of the ground and walls, and holes that lead t the surface and provide illumination.

Heh, I make Cave Story mods, so I always set Grasstown in an out-door setting rather than it being a cave with grass. I find it neat that you added holes for sunlight and the grass and lighting that's just spot-on.
A very nice concept picture, and if I could, I would make this.
