The story behind this picture is last Monday (March 31) I sat down and read 100 chapters of Bleach in ten hours. You saw that right, 100 frickin' chapters. Anyway, that brought me from the bit with Ichigo and the Vaizard up to the current chapters, and all I gotta say is Hot -DAYAM Kenpachi has THE BEST ENTRANCE EVARRRR!!!
I won't spoil it for those who are reading the manga, but my reaction looked something like this:
Combined with much high-pitched squealing and cries of "GOOOO KEN-CHAAAAAAN!!!"
So I had to do some Kenpachi fanart. I used only the manga as reference for this, and I'm really happy with how it came out. He has such a sweet smile, ne?
TRIVIA:
•The title is a reference to his signature chapter name "The Undead - (1, 2, 3 and 4)" and the chapter in which he reappears. Thus we get "The Undead - 297".
•The Kanji in the bottom-right is his name (in the left column) and my name (in the right).
Graphite pencil and watercolors on 7.5"x12" cold pressed Acquerello paper. Took about 4 hours.

Personally I think the manga is better than the anime, but then I like manga in general better than anime in general. XP But Kenny is just as awesome!

It took me a week to read through all of Bleach so far, minus the filler/omake/whatever arc where they're going through Soul Society 100 years before the story. I also skipped the Hitsugaya's Past filler.
And that was my reaction too. KEN-CHAN YAY.
...But my favourite character will always be Ulquiorra. <3

this thread has made me want to go back and watch bleach with the Rukia rescue from Soul Society story arc again... i stoppe dwhen the Bounto were introduced and i couldn't stand them, haha

The anime returns to the manga again at Episode 110, although it is sometimes interspersed with fillers, they are usually only one or two episodes, and you can easily skip them.
I know that the anime is currently getting into another long filler arc, starting around ep. 168. Either way, you can keep track with the nice Wikipedia list: [link]

I kinda watch/read both, although I'm a little more ahead with the manga than the anime. I haven't really gotten far...I should probably catch up with the more recent chapters.
In any case, I adore Kenpachi! He's awesome! 
(I like both the manga AND the anime, by the way. Both have their pros and cons. But when it comes to the anime, I prefer the subs to the dubs. I hate dubs.

It was actually the anime that got me into reading the manga: I had read the first few chapters and they hadn't really caught my interest, but then my bro started watching the anime on YouTube and we both got hooked. Then when we caught up with the anime I went back and read the manga — now I'm caught up with the manga, but I haven't watched any anime since Episode 120… or thereabouts.
I like the anime fine, but the Bount Arc nearly killed my brain. Fillers =
I only watch anime subtitled: the dubs are usually too cheap and fast sounding, plus you miss out on a lot of the funny Japanese-isms that crop up.

I got hooked the opposite way! First I saw some of the anime, didn't care for it much, then I read the manga (which kicked ass), then I got back into the anime. Weird...

Generally I prefer manga to anime in all case (haven't watched a single episode of Naruto… ever). But the only thing I really have against the Bleach anime is those gawd-damn filler craploads! Aaaargh!

You know what worse than Japanese voice actors trying to speak English? It's Japanese VAs trying to speak GERMAN.

I nearly skipped the Bount arc, but I knew Ken-chan made an appearance so I went all the way through. Damn, Ken's bit was the only half-decent episode.
You talkin' about the Naruto intro or the Bleach intro? I remember the first Bleach intro looked a little weird to me, but since then I've grown to like the song.

Naruto... the painful one... the gross one... at least it was in Germany, maybe it's more halfway as bad (but probably still very so) in other countries...
