like with so many "before/afters" I have seen here, I kinda like the "before" better. guys, don't succumb to the mainstream! your old artworks have character, they look special, individual. cling to some of that.

Hmmm, I guess get what you're saying but when I look at my old artwork that I used to really like (and don't get me wrong, I still love the before in this it was my favorite for a LONG time) and see all the things I could have done differently, it's more of a challenge to see how you much you have IMPROVED. While the before has individual characteristics, so does the new one, you have to look at both of them. For example, on this one you can look at the before and see a calming characteristic, but at the new one you see a carefree/happy characteristic, yes? It's all about how you look at it and how the artist/viewer connects to it and has nothing to do with mainstream. Plus when I look at other people's before/afters I see their improvement and it's honestly encouragement, it's literally showing "practice makes perfect."

Hi, thanks for the long reply! I did not mean to criticise in any case and I am happy that you feel that you have improved your skills. I try to improve my skills, too, but I am kinda starting to value individuality more than skill. I like the mood of your old painting and the big bunch of hair. It makes her very childlike and cute.
