Description This is just something for the meantime while I'm still working on other stuff.

I haven't done a pencil Illustration for a long time so I thought I gave the mechanical pencil a whirl again but I really wanted to keep on practicing my digital colouring. So I've put them together to see the comparison.

Which one do you guys prefer? Traditional or Digital? Leave a comment on which one you chose

I've also stuck this up on my new facebook page [link] If you have facebook, please check it out and maybe give it a like or share it to your friends on Facebook. Hopefully they will like it too

Echono Lihte and artwork belongs to © Jeremy de los Reyes

Wow, I saw Echono on Google years ago and was much surprised to run across his owner now. Epically awesome picture
Hm... I think I must cast my vote to the traditional. The color pops more, but there's something about lineart that shows emotion better ^_^

Oh my! =*w*=
I'm actually staring at this pic for ... *goes to check the time* 10 mins now,
but I still can't decide which one I like better
I think both of them are great and unique on their own ways,
so don't make me decide! TwT
I also love the way how you can mix the thickness of the lines so effectively,
I still need to work on that! OwO
Anyway, great job bro as always, keep it up please!

lol why stare so long for! xD

DECIDE!!! hahaha. Just kidding, I'm still deciding which one I like better since I really like both of them!

The best thing about pencil - you can keep on working on it until you get it right!

Thanks sis

I forgot to blink O.O ... But I'm ok no worries

I still ... can't ... decide! D:
I love them both that's my decision!

Well, I still need to work a lot on my pencil
drawings, but I won't give up! At least I'll try not to

No need to thank me bro!

Honestly I like both of your bethods of art Each has their own charm and merits to them

I could NEVER have the patience to put that much detail into bandages...seriously, I would shoot myself in the head for a change of pace if I tried lol XD

Your character is really awsome I love his design X3 It's hard to find hedgehog that aren't total recolors you know, but you've clearly put a lot of effort into designing him and making him original

haha I really wish I could see Echono the same way as his fans do but I guess I don't mind him now. I wish that I could have spent more time designing him but a lot of people seem to like him just as the way he is. It's probably just me lol

Patience, practice and passion Three virtues that I have believed in to become a better artist!

I think in this case, the colour really brings out the drawing but I guess you're right. Both have their own pros~!

On one hand, I have always loved your pencil drawings so I'm gonna be biased and say the sketch. Though, the colored one gives it life too. For nostalgia sake, the pencil sketch has more depth and anyhow, your drawings don't need color to be amazing.

Yea, I think I'm too comfortable with just pencil drawings only so I'm trying venture out into different styles

Thanks~!

I like a bit of both traditional and digital myself, why not go to one to the other depending on your mood and what you think would best suit your future work? n_n anyway this looks really cool and awesome how you drew the character posed like that, looks really dynamic especially with all the bandages and the colouring job is just as equally well used too nice work and keep it up n_n

I think from a professional standpoint, it'd be much more convenient to have numerous styles to approach various clients and whatnot. The only thing I can see pencil drawings in the industry is comic art which my drawing style is far from, I guess? xD

Thank you for your comment

I like how you've added colour to this one Jerm, really fits the cross hatching style you have going on being nice and loose like that.
Rad seeing you continually expanding your styles :]

Yea, trying to dive into the deep end with colouring but it seems that I'm using the sketch as a pair of floaters

Thanks man I hope to do some more of this kind of stuff. It's a lot of fun~!

This is a nice piece of work that certainly continues the trend of seeing your growth in colouring and working more with the sketchy look to your concepts. The approach has worked well and certainly a method that should perhaps be continued with with future concepts. The blend of a sketch with digital colouring works well and certainly brings that 'pop' to the concept be it old or new, certainly here it gives your character a revitalise of energy and charisma. The detail with the pencils is impressive and shows the attention to detail and patience you have when it comes to apply even the slightest details to your work, what's more the sharp line art and shading really brings the attention of his facial gesture to life and to his body language as well. It allows the design of your character to come to life and almost feel that he could leap from the page. Seeing that in a humble sketch still shows that there is a lot of attraction and dedication to your work to make it shine in that way and with the inclusion of digital colouring on top makes for a striking display of animation.

Your colouring has certainly improved in many way and it feels that you've found your own approach to colouring your work. This painted look is a nice touch and allows for a striking and bold display of power, it makes him have energy and grabs our attention from a far with rich blend of warm and cold hues.

Keep it up.

(who is this character you always draw him so well >__<;; ) I'm really interested in buying one of your sketches of him, if thats possible ^_^
