Didn't kiryu die from abuse and lack of will to stay alive? I may very well be wrong but that's what I got.( I only watched some of the Japanese version.)

on yugioh wiki was mentioned that he maybe died of starving or exausting and the game it was also so he "passed out" and then he became a dark signer

Yea cause in the game that Armstrong captain guy said something like "heh. This piece of trash didn't last long." my sis owns the game but I guess it doesn't matter too much how he died cuz we get the main idea.
