Yes, it definitely is not as easy as at looks.
So many people think, "Oh well all you do is just point the camera at whatever you want to take a picture of, press the button, and click. Boom! An amazing macro photo just happened."
NO.

"But...but...

NO.

When I first started out shooting macro photography I was just as frustrated as you. Yes, really.
But how did I get better at shooting macro? Trial and error and time. I would shoot an average, five-hundred to one-thousand photos, just to end up with at least one to three good shots.

I learned very quickly through this process of rinse and repeat, for me rinse and repeat meant shooting  thousands of photos and wiping the memory card clean.
I did this until I started getting photos worth keeping on my memory card, and even until I started getting quality macros worth sharing here.

And on top of all this, I discovered through experimentation how to use old camera lenses or slide projector lenses to get me the kind of detail and shots I so despearatly
desired to have the ability to create and capture.

Here is an extremely detailed macro tutorial that I created a few years ago. And this is how I still continue creating my macro photos that I'm known for.

It was a tricky one, the wind was blowing plus there were cars zooming by and causing a slight microscopic disturbance too.

I'm very happy it came out as good as it did.
