Practice practice practice! I love how this turned out. c: Done mostly in Photoshop with 1 layer, with a pinch of SAI.

New character? I don't know, hehe. Doesn't have a name really, so he's simply called The Snowbird.

He was once human, but got lost in the snow while hunting and eventually died. When spring came his body was discovered, preserved by the cold, though as he had no identity he was instead offered to the Winter King.

The Winter King had a servant, The (original) Snowbird, who spent all the non-winter months traveling around the world to collect the nectar of the gods, which is contained in a substance that only godly beings like the The King can destroy.

The nectar is the only thing that keeps both The King and The Snowbird alive. If The Snowbird fails to deliver it, both perish, as The King is unable to leave home to retrieve it himself..

The Snowbird always returned to home on the first day of winter, then spent the remaining months in sleep, reawakening when spring returned.

One winter, however, The Snowbird was found dead on the way returning to home.

The King took The Snowbird's body and stitched it to the body of the human that had been previously offered to him- still preserved by the cold of The King's icy home. When spring came, the new Snowbird with a human heart came to life.

Eventually he took over the role of being The Winter King, but that's a longer story now.

Though the general body is inspired by Egyptian mythology (like my other art lately) He's really, a hodgepodge of different cultures with his design, with the cape and the leaf and the back story.

I may or may not develop him more, oh well, otherwise this is just concept art. c:

As mentioned, this was inspired by Sufjan Stevens, specifically his song Majesty Snowbird .
