Description
Wendell hears a terrible scream. He recognises that scream, anywhere. It was his wife, when a mugger almost stabbed her, at an ATM. Wendell managed to fend him off, and walked her home.
Wendell quickly opens the door, only to have large claws scratch the top of his forehead and blood pours down his face. Thinking it is a bear, Wendell quickly gets up to get his rifle. When he turns around, he is shocked to see something much, much worse than he could have imagined. The creature is 7'5" tall, its skin is pale as the ashes after a house fire, its teeth are jagged yet its physical features resemble a human being. He can almost see the bones of it as well but is surprised to see that it is moving just fine. Wendell tries to shoot at it, only to see it disappear and reappear right up to him. And then hold onto his neck, and start to choke Wendell. Was that teleportation, or was it just that fast? He can't say, as he is trying to take in any breath in the air. Only to be pushed away.
"Such a poor example of a Wendigo." it says, in a dark demonic voice that makes Wendell's heart feel the one emotion he has never felt before. Fear. He can't even ask this creature anything, as it holds its grip even tighter. "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you." The creature, now known as a Wendigo, raises up his other arm to show something that Wendell wishes he never sees. "I just wanted to give you a pardoning gift." This 'gift' is a finger, with the same ring, with a diamond crested heart, that he gave to his wife. "You see, while you were dumping your 'leftovers' in the cave. It made me wonder if I could find a much more suitable meal, than a bunch of useless snacks." He put the finger in Wendell's pocket. "Then it seems that she was the perfect meal to satisfy me, for the time being. As I desire more food, from the life stock of humans, in this world." After one more tight choke, Wendell finally passes out. With an angered, and shocked, expression on his face. "Remember this, you have done this to yourself." The creature then rushes out of the cabin, as sirens are heard about in the cabin.
(from Winter Nights comic page 27. It was done in 2016. I realised the image was too dark. I adjusted the brightness)
The murderer got what he deserved. And Chuck...he finally got revenge on the bald guy.

If I understand it right, it IS his fault but not in the way you’d normally guess if you’re not familiar with the Wendigo legend. The Wendigo only feeds on the LONELY. He had made his Victims feel all alone, even if loneliness hadn’t been a problem for them prior to being napped; being tortured to death by a perceived psycho for no reason they could understand would make most people feel utterly alone in their final moments as the life ebbed away. Thus, their remains made for a reliable source of snacks for awhile, but lacked the savor of a fresh victim. That his WIFE felt so lonely as to be irresistible to the monster just goes further to show that he’s as rotten a husband as he is a killer.
That’s my interpretation at a glance, but I’m new here, so what do I know?
