This is a pretty sweet piece Graeme While I like the concept of the masks and the symbolism it offers (the one in the background is so colourful too, which is awesome), I really marvel over the finer details you provide - the light reflecting off the fabric of the corset, the translucency and the sheerness of the skirt and stockings...not to mention that the feather boa actually looks like feathers I think these finer details really do make a painting such as yours.

Awesome work...consider it favourited

Thank you Misss Bubbles, I love painting these things and working out how to get it to look right. I'm glad you think it pays off.
Sorry this reply is late I just paint to much. lol

Painting too much is good though! It definitely does pay off in the end.

Very nice piece here Graeme. I don't get to your gallery as much
as I'd like to, but it's a pleasure when I do just to see this quality of
work.

Thanks Doug, I can't show a lot of my new work at the moment because I will be having a solo exhibition in Feb. next year and want a lot of new work that has not been seen but then there will be a flood of it I guess.

DeepMountainArts In reply to graemeb [2011-06-13 02:48:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can relate to that big time. As a Poet, which is what
I do, I won't post any of my writing unless it's published somewhere,
acknowledged and holds my copyright. New work I won't even consider
posting. It's my way of helping protect my work. Good luck man! I would love
to see that, but I would never be able to afford the trip. Old guys like us
are done with that scene anyways, hahaha. Just a play my young and foolish
lifestyles. At my age, I couldn't afford, or survive the heart attack that
would more than likely come with it.

Thanks I guess that is what it is all about, she is just being herself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtbySandiJohnson In reply to graemeb [2011-02-14 19:41:12 +0000 UTC]

Of course you meant that she is just being herself. I'm so used to the concept of people throwing up protective false faces, perhaps without even knowing they are, trying to fit in or fit whatever image the situation or relationships, or life, seems to want of a person that I wasn't thinking along that line. I think a lot of the time people don't even realize they are pretending to be something not true to themselves, they're so far gone.

Hey Tauri, I see you have weathered another storm, glad you have come through OK. How is your unaproved, uninsured self built house, hope it too can stand these storms.
I must admit I didn't see much of it on TV, I was starting to get depressed and a bit anoyed with all the press coverage of the floods and then this, they just can't help but sensationalize everything they do and they love to tell you that the price of everything will have to go up.
Anyhow thanks for the compliment.

graemeb In reply to LHMiller [2011-02-03 21:22:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Larry, it's 1000mm x 750mm or over there that's 40in x 30. I'm trying not to paint so big, which is hard because I like big but small sells better.
I sold the other painting like yours in an exhibition before Christmas so things are moving along.

LHMiller In reply to graemeb [2011-02-04 15:10:32 +0000 UTC]

I find it harder to work big and have been told several times that if my work was bigger...! ( or did they say better?) anyways, i put much more creedance in your opinions. are you mostly selling originls or prints? ( just wondering, if too nosy, say so.) your work is truly unique.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

graemeb In reply to LHMiller [2011-02-04 20:12:25 +0000 UTC]

Working big can be harder, but when you learn more and have the confidence that seems to go away. I found it harder in the early days of learning.
Yeah mostly selling originals I don't see much point in prints, the world is full of them and I think people lose respect for them.
Your not to nosy Larry, any time mate.
Glad you like my work, I feel I am just getting it to where I want, so many ideas so long to paint them, ever time I paint one I think of two more, how will I ever catch up.lol

The texture of the skirt is extraordinary, indeed all the textures are wonderful.

I hope you are not concerned by the terrible flooding or the typhoon.
