Description Vent art. I witnessed the death of a beautiful creature yesterday...

You gracefully fell onto the pavement with your mate next to you, trying to protect you...
Lifting you off the road I saw the gash in your head, flowing from it, a gentle stream of crimson...your breath was hoarse and strained.
The hemorrhage.
Soft grass beckoned to you, so I placed you there. You would be leaving soon, and I couldn't stop you.
I'm sorry. There was nothing I could do. Too late.
I'm sorry.

Ohhhhh that is absolutely terrible.. To witness the death of any being is traumatising, especially if you are there and you have such a strong desire to help and make sure everything is okay in the end for them. It is wonderful, though, that you were the last human that they had contact with before finally resting, especially after what injured them, and this illustration you created in their honor is beautiful and tugs at my heart ;;

i kind of had a similar experience today. I saw a lonley duckling floating in the middle of the ditch in my backyard. I felt sorry for it but at the same time i wondered if i could get it out of there and feed it to my cats just so it won't go to waste, it sounds morbid but i feel like it atleast died for a reason then instead of just to float on it's own in the moat.

But here's some cheerful news, i had a nest of blackbirds in my garden and they have flown out yesterday.
