Not everyone responds to light. Not everyone receives hope when it is given. Not everyone wants help, even when life itself may be at stake. It isn't her fault that the world is this way, but sometimes it makes her very sad.

(The kind of work I do full time -not art- is not always easy. In fact, sometimes it can downright heartbreaking. There are reaffirming moments that keep me going for weeks and months. Other times, though, when it isn't acutely painful, it tends to wear slowly away at my optimism about the world. Drawing stuff like this helps me feel better.)
