Description When DE added the ability to replay The Second Dream, there was something I remembered that'd left me peeved, though experiencing the quest's epic finale for the first time had caused me to completely forget about it at the time. That being Alad V's restoration after receiving the cure to his Mutalist-state. What peeved me is that he was never physically punished for his hubris, and effectively received a get out of jail free card at the mercy of the Tenno. When I say physically, I mean that more than half of Mutalist Alad V's body is consumed by the technocyte virus and despite that being the case the only apparent permanence due to his acts are a few glowing scars on his face - the least infested area of his body. I found that to be a tad ridiculous and a waste of an opportunity for Alad V to grow as a character, considering he's one of the few antagonists in Warframe who has had the opportunity to mature and be further fleshed out. Also, such a miraculous and magical cure that completely destroys and reverts infested tissue, something that could in theory remove the Infested blight from the system and yet that quest was the last time it was ever mentioned or referenced to.

So, in a state of gripefulness I decided to redesign Alad V's aftermath, replacing the infested areas of his body that would most likely have had to be amputated and scorched away with hastily jumbled-together Corpus cybernetics. Basically the Darth Vader treatment. A piece of art that inspired me was Syncrasis' "Panic" piece seen here: syncrasis.deviantart.com/art/P…
I really liked the idea and wanted to take it a step further. In this form I can see Alad V becoming a more sombre character, having realized the price his arrogance and lust for power and control nearly cost him, having nearly been consumed by the infested hive mind. Not so much a shell of the man he once was, but one who needs the time to recollect himself and find a new purpose in his life and for his craft.

I almost feel sorry for Old Salad here. It's strange, really - he can be so incredibly evil, yet so pathetic he becomes strangely likable. He's kinda like Starscream that way.

I love it! As much as a jerkass he is, having lost half of his body and becomes disfigured like this might effects his character development, for better or worse. Also because I have a soft spot for something like this... Mustt be pretty shocking to see him in this state.

Although him having normal body makes sense, Alad might probably had his arms and legs amputated lore-wise, other than the cure, he probably got some Grineer cloning facility resources and cultured his arm and other lost parts then transplanted back into himself, as being outwardly augmented made him look too 'Grineer'. (Which can be the worst punishment for a Corpus board member to have). I'm glad that he's cured, but 'glowing' scars scares me, would the infestation come back?

Oh, Did he forgot to shave too?

You know, I never really cared much for Alad, even after he got the Infestation out of him. But looking at this... man.

Damn that looks really cool, I especially like the work done on the left side of the body where he was more heavily Infested to show the sort of work "necessary" to truly rid himself of it, at least physically.

I'm also really curious about the left arm bit as well, wondering if it has a weapon or something built into it to defend himself with should his previous employers or the Tenno come knocking again.

Thank you!

The left arm was something I was still deciding on in my head on whether or not it has a purpose. It is essentially Zanuka's head repurposed as a shoulder piece, though the thought I had for was that it could be the power source and control hub/motherboard that allows the rest of the cybernetic attachments/implants to function properly, being a highly advanced piece of engineering. More practically however, it is there as a cruel and somewhat ironic reminder of Alad V's failed schemes against the Tenno.
