Description A spur-of-the-moment idea, inspired by another screengrab taken from the ShamuCam. I referenced a pose of Ikaika and turned it into a reason to paint more of orca!Breakdown.

The inclusion of netting, the "smoggy" underwater atmosphere, and a perhaps-worried expression were inspired in part by the TFP episode "Operation Breakdown". What would that make M.E.C.H. in the TFO verse, then? I honestly don't know. It's yet another thing I'd have to come up with a parallel for. Maybe a bunch of guys in the fictional black market for the capture and transport of rare and exotic killer whales to private zoos? I wonder.

That's what I thought upon adding the net to one of the layers. But without it, this would be just another profile shot. This way, there's some story that can be attributed to the picture.

I think even without the net, I would still feel sorry for him.
Nice job BTW

Thank you.

It's a webcam at SeaWorld San Diego that looks in on the killer whale exhibit:

Yes. By where I'm at, Eastern Standard Time, it should be daylight there on in about 5 or 6 hours. It doesn't have the greatest quality, but some days there is a lot of activity.

Oh oh I have an idea! Maybe they plan on using him for experiments like the Navy did on dolphins and orcas? To see what knowledge they contain and how intelligent they are not to mention their physical prowess.

I'm sorry I've just all ready started my own little headcanon for this... >>;

But Breakdown looks amazing here! Such a cutie but it worries me what MECH has in store for the big guy, if going by canon it won't be anything good. :<

That's one possibility, and one I hadn't yet thought of, I'll add. And it would make more sense than simply poaching/whaling.

Don't be sorry. I'm open to any and all thoughts/ideas when it comes to TFO. But at the same time, nothing's set in stone yet. Right now just getting the designs down is the biggest focus, even if I do like to digress into "what is the context" from time to time. And paintings like this and "Fold" are just examples of where I'm drawing story-like inspiration from, which is TFP itself.

Thank you. I think my own little personal challenge was to see how well I could make him emote with his eye (given I, for whatever reason, did not give him a browline; another bid to make him more unique, I suppose ). Everything else sorta found its way in there as I worked on the coloring, particularly the dark, murky shading on the water.

I have some lighter-hearted sketches/colorings in the works, too, I might add (should be posting one of them within the next day or so). Not everything I intend to work on for TFP is as vague as this.

Oh yay I'm glad you liked my idea! c:

Also I think you did a great job making Breakdown emotable, if that's even a word lol but you did a great job as always. I wish I could color as well as you do!

I'm actually working on some sketches of your designs of the TFO Decepticons. They're so much fun to draw |3

I won't lie, Fluffah, you're one of only a few others who've sought to give me detailed feedback on this whole TFO concept (even though some of these TFO paintings have received double the amount of favs than my usual paintings, it's all been "blank praise" far as I'm concerned). At the moment, I can only think of three other names besides. On that note, I have to thank you again for showing interest like you have. And for reblogging my work to Tumblr.

Emotable - could be a word. I've seen stranger ones in the dictionary. :3

Thank you. If I may be modest, though, I know I still have a lot to learn. I don't even know what clip masking does, which is a sin among digital colorists, I guess.

Glad you're enjoying them. That's part of why they're there.

Very nice, love me some Breakdown but yeah I could see Mech as "whalers" since they technically capture Transformers and take apart them. kind like the Japs whaling for "science"

Thanks. Glad I could provide, then.

True. I just don't know if labeling them as "whalers" makes sense, given the fact orcas have never really been a big target of being hunted for sustenance IRL (capture for captivity has hurt their numbers more). Maybe poachers, more like, if M.E.C.H.'s intent would be to somehow capture each one as a trophy of sorts, given the TFOs' abnormal coloration. It's a loose idea, anyway, open to interpretation.
