IMPORTANT NOTE:
It has come to my attention that some users feel the screenshot meme is a form of infringement and goes against dA policies. However, I believe this is false.

After researching, I found that dA policy DOES NOT approve of artists stealing the work of others and using it as their own, even when giving a disclaimer or crediting the artist. HOWEVER, dA also abides by the same copyright rules that any other establishment would. With this, one has to think of the Fair Use policies. To quote dA policy:

"What about "Fair Use"
"Fair Use" is the notion that some public and private uses of copyrighted works should not require the permission of a copyright owner. These circumstances are very limited, complex to analyze under the law and require the help of expert advice from a lawyer. We recommend you talk to your own lawyer if you want to know more about fair use as it applies to the work you are doing. If it turns out that it isn't fair use, you may be liable for very serious money damages."

After this text there are links to a website describing Fair Use. The two main forms of Fair Use are described as "Comments and Criticism" and "Parody," found at this link: [link]

Under the "Commentary and Criticism" it states:

"If you are commenting upon or critiquing a copyrighted work -- for instance, writing a book review -- fair use principles allow you to reproduce some of the work to achieve your purposes. Some examples of commentary and criticism include:
• quoting a few lines from a Bob Dylan song in a music review
• summarizing and quoting from a medical article on prostate cancer in a news report
• copying a few paragraphs from a news article for use by a teacher or student in a lesson, or
• copying a portion of a Sports Illustrated magazine article for use in a related court case.

The underlying rationale of this rule is that the public reaps benefits from your review, which is enhanced by including some of the copyrighted material. Additional examples of commentary or criticism are provided in the examples of fair use cases. "

Now my conclusion and logic:

My screenshot meme and the works created by filling it in are NOT guilty of copyright infringement. They are in no way actually copying the series used in the meme. They are not redirecting profit away from the owners. They are a fun analysis of the respective series, a COMMENTARY or a CRITICISM. We are simply using portions (very small one at that) of a series and using them in a review. Even if taken to court, I feel that this meme would be accepted under Fair Use policies.

Wow, I had no idea this would hit off like it did!!! Because I get so many of these now, I probably won't get to comment on everyone's. Just know that I do look at all of them and I enjoy them very much!! Thanks so much to everyone who has done and plans on doing this meme!

Since several people have asked:

YES! You can do the meme to any anime, tv show, game, etc, etc... If you can come up with screenshots you can do it to anything!

and YES, do it as many times as you want! The whole point of a meme is to kill time, banish boredom, and show your opinion in an organized manner. I don't just like one anime, tv show, etc and I know no one else does either. If you want to screenshot every anime you've ever seen, be my guest! It's YOUR meme, I just provided the framework. So have fun with it!

and finally, this is how I fill out the meme...
Tools you might need for this:

1) Paint.
2) A program that will allow you to edit pics like Photoshop. I suppose paint could also work if you're talented.
3) A site that has streaming video of the show you're capping or a video program that allows you to cap using Print Screen.

Okay, so what I do is I find the show I'm capping on YouTube or something similar. Then, when I find the right scene, I pause the vid and hit the Print Screen button on the keyboard (mine is abbreviated PrtSc).

When you hit that, open up paint and click the "select" button (mine looks like a dash-lined square, top right corner in the box of tools). Then go to the white area and right click. Choose "paste". Your screencap will be pasted into paint. Then crop it and save it.

Repeat this process for all your caps. Then open the newly saved caps in photoshop and place them accordingly on the meme template using the selection and move tools.

If you don't have Photoshop, you can probably do the whole thing in Paint, but it may be more tedious.
