Description
Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery. Faves and comments are always appreciated!Located deep in a remote section of Oregon's Coast Range, very few people have seen this waterfall which involves a difficult bushwhack to access. More information can be found here .
This waterfall is very wide, so I had to stitch three photos together to create this image. Full View highly recommended for better appreciation of detail.

I'm not sure why someone gave it that name. Perhaps because visitors have a "devil" of a time getting to it!

Funny you should mention getting lost... we did get lost on the first attempt, and I felt my mortality during that trip. It's too hard for most people. There is a HUGE difference between a trail (even if it is steep) and going off-trail.

With your description of the trail, it sounds really hard. I'm glad you found it. There are a lot of people who will never be able to see it at all or even know that it exist. Great picture! & thank you for sharing the Devil's Staircase!

Great shot! After watching an Oregon Field Guide episode about this spot, I've been really wanting to go there. How hard was it to get into? Did you go with someone who had been there before, or did you just use map & compass?

Very, very difficult. I have been on MANY bushwhacks, and this was by far the toughest. In fact, I went with someone who had been there before, and the first time we attempted to find it he got lost! It is incredibly easy to lose the "trail", which is nothing more than a boot path which is often quite faint. Using a map and compass and/or GPS would not help. If you are REALLY interested in visiting, I suggest that you keep an eye on the Cascadia Wildlands web site. They occasionally lead guided tours.
