Personality: Growing up the way he did, Shomari seeks one thing and one thing only: power. To him, there is nothing more important in the world than finding and obtaining power, and he will do whatever it takes to get it. To Shomari, the only way to have true strength and power is by earning it, and he's intent on putting in the work to achieve his goals. The greatest scum of the earth, in his eyes, are those born into power, who do nothing to work for it, and he is incredibly resentful of those born into royalty. He works hard towards his goals, with his stubbornness and ambition only fueling his desire for power, and with this dedication Shomari intends to get what he wants no matter what. Upon first meeting him, he often comes across as rude due to his blunt and unfriendly nature. Shomari isn't big on making friends, and he prefers to get straight to the point, so he often makes his intentions quite clear from the start. While his emotions get the better of him sometimes, he also knows when to hold his tongue and hide his true intentions; while he would prefer to reach power on his own, he also recognizes when it's time to seek out others, but in the end, Shomari cares about nobody but himself.

History: Born into a small rogue family, Shomari was taught since birth that power was everything, and that true power had to be earned. Ever since he and his siblings were old enough to walk and talk, their parents put them through rigorous training, wanting to turn them into the perfect soldiers capable of surviving and thriving in the world. All his life, Shomari's parents stressed how important it was to become strong and prove your strength, often pitting the cubs against one another in training so they could grow stronger. Shomari, just like his other siblings, struggled, but out of all the cubs he was the strongest. Even when it seemed he was beat, Shomari never gave up fighting, and this caught his parents' eye. While they didn't show kindness or love to their cubs, they did pay attention, and they were quick to note Shomari's feisty attitude and determined spirit. However, they also noticed that their most promising son had a weak spot: his brother. While Shomari battled and trained alongside his siblings, and in general seemed to pick on and bully them, Shomari always seemed to favor one particular brother and, much to his parents' dismay, this cub was the weakest of the litter. In their minds, a weak link like this could not and should not hold back their most promising child. Eventually, his parents made the decision that they had preserve the strength of their son and their family at all costs.

During one of their routine training sessions, they decided to put Shomari to the test. As the strongest cub, they demand he get rid of the weakest link once and for all: his brother. Shomari was at first distraught, and he refused to kill his brother, however his parents were persistent, and after pressuring him and threatening his own life, Shomari was forced to kill his brother. His parents were satisfied with this, but Shomari was left forever broken. Now, any light or life he'd had in his heart was snuffed out, and for many months after the fact, he carried the guilt of his brother's death with him. In time, to avoid the guilt, he began to truly believe his parents' words: there is no place for the weak in the world. If you were not willing to work for strength and power, if you were not strong, then you were better off dead. As time went on, his heart hardened with this knowledge, and as he and his siblings grew stronger and stronger, their parents decided it was time to take power for themselves.

Once Shomari and his siblings became teenagers, capable of fighting off larger lions, their parents decided to target a pride to take over. To Shomari and his family, the ultimate power was to rule a pride, to be a leader who commanded others, and the quickest way to get that power was by force. Together, the rogue family overwhelmed the pride, killing their leaders so Shomari's parents could take over, however once his parents took their place as the new rulers, they cast their children out of the pride. His parents claimed it wouldn't be fair for their children to have an upper hand in life just because their parents were rulers, and so once more, Shomari and his siblings were rogues. Left with this last lesson from his parents, Shomari quickly broke off from his siblings and set out on his own, determined to rule his own pride without help from anybody else.

However, this proved to be a difficult challenge; while Shomari was strong in his own right, he was still a teenager, and going up against grown males by himself only spelled defeat. Though his losses left him bitter and scarred, he never gave up on his goal of one day taking over and ruling a pride of his own. With every loss, he thought of the mistakes he made so that he could avoid them in the future, and as time went on, his fighting skills grew stronger. He continued to challenge prides, and while he continued to fail, he also continued to improve, so much so that he even managed to kill some of the lions he challenged. Still, no matter how good he seemed to get, Shomari was always outnumbered, and as he grew into a young adult, he felt as though he were at a standstill. Frustrated and still searching for his big break, he learned of a land filled with lush landscapes and bountiful prey: the Pridelands.

It sounded like the perfect place for a pride, and when he learned of the generations of royalty that had lived there, Shomari became even more determined to take it for himself. In his eyes, royals were the worst of the worse; they'd never struggled like he had, never fought for power. To him, they were spoiled brats who didn't deserve the power they held, and with the opportunity to put one of the longest living monarchies into the ground, he quickly made his way to the Pridelands with a new goal in mind. While he was determined to take over the Pridelands, he knew he had to approach this cautiously, and so instead of diving right into combat, he took his time scouting out the pride and learning as much as he could about them. He was quick to determine that, just as he had expected, he was outnumbered, and once more he was frustrated. The biggest bounty of his life lay right before him, but there was no way he could grasp it. Not without help, at least.

One day, as he continued to scout out the Pridelands, he bumped into another lion, and after they began to argue, Shomari challenged him to a fight. Shomari believed he would win this fight due to the other male's smaller stature, and initially he was, until, right at the very end, the smaller male outsmarted Shomari and ended up defeating him. Shomari was stunned after being so sure of his victory, and he felt a twinge of respect for the smaller male; having physical strength was one thing, but having the cunning to aid that strength was something else entirely. The other male calmly introduced himself as Huzuni, and he began speaking with Shomari about the Pridelands. He'd noticed Shomari lurking on the borders, watching the pride from the shadows, and after discussing the topic further, he invited Shomari to join his little group in taking down the Pridelands. Shomari's first instinct was to decline-after all, he'd been taught to earn power by himself-however he quickly realized that this opportunity was too good to pass up. By himself, he wouldn't be able to take down the Pridelands, but if he had help from others, he stood a fair chance. And so, he agreed, joining Huzuni in his plans to take down the Pridelands, but Shomari had plans of his own. He may be earning this power with the others, but he would make sure that in the end, he was the only one standing on top.
