having chronic illness and friends even on this site with the same thing (and I'm sure many more) it's kinda.... unsettling not knowing where you are coming from with this design I guess :/ your art is great btw and I mean no harm or offense but pain everyday? not cute or fun ( [link] )
anyway, like I said, not trying to come down on you but you probably need to know that this could be hurtful (insensitive) to those who are literally chronically ill (fibromyalgia, arthritis and other illnesses in this category are very common and some artists have to adjust the way the even create to deal with this. I am still trying to adjust as it is) so.... I hope that explain why this could come across wrong.

I have chronic knee pain from growing to fast, so im allowed to draw whatever I want even if I didnt have any chronic pain.

Actually, I wasn't "offended" at all, if this were about my personal woes as was implied another comment), I could tell you all about the pain over the years, the symptoms/hospitals/Dr's etc.
This is not a "cute" topic and you need to know that people are suffering out there, I was mature with you and had hope you would be with me. I am sorry I offended you to the point of responding this way.
Yes, you can draw what you want but maybe put more heart into it, a heart that considers other human beings as more valuable than "I draw what I want" and I know you probably didn't ask people to back you, that's what's fans do but they also need to realize that if you value your viewers they can disagree with the subject matter and still respect you for your art. I admire your artwork. Your insensitive reply however has cost you my respect. The fans that value you as a person won't agree with you all the time, we as artists are more than machine. Give others and yourself a bit more credit- this goes deeper than "opinions".

you might be surprised to find that there are people you may even draw inspiration from are suffering from a lot and ALSO care about the hurt others have.

People who draw lines to compare a drawing of a fictinal character being ripped to shreds or having say 100 knifes through them as the same as a person suffering the same fate and need to think of those people who do suffer it, is just silly in my eyes. You are over reacting over something which does not need to be overreacted over.
I have no idea how many times ive heard this argument, but sorry each time its just as silly, and its got nothing to do with me not putting heart into it or not.
Should people stop drawing things, or write about things that others might suffer through in real life? Is that what your trying to tell me? because to me thats just dumb. We cant control what people draw, and everyone has artistic freedom to make what they want even if its furry porn, sadistic pictures ripping kittens apart or religious art etc.
Im not here to please people or give them what they want, im here to draw what I want because I love to make art. The people who follow me deciedes to do so because they like what I do aswell. So people look at what they want and as I love to draw a lot of things, there will be things people do not like. Thats how its like in real life aswell. It is impossible to make something that wont upset/offend someone because we are all diffrent and have diffrent views.
So what im trying to say, people drawing something is not unsetteling to me no matter what it is because its art and not reality. Same with movies, They make movies about people getting tortured, does that bother me? no its a movie. People get tortured in real life and thats horrible, and im pretty sure if those people were to watch a torture movie it would make them unsettled aswell. But that doesnt change my point.

No, actually, Ahkanna used it as a way to remember a horrific event (if you were a child, how much more frighteningg??) but the point is HOW you do this...are you reaching out or trying to treating it as a trend? years ago when I was still in the anthro community Nazi-fur haracters began trending, this is NOT okay with me and it should never be treated as some kind of acceptable trend.
I was never bashing you, nor your art but challenging, admittedly where this is coming from. I am not trying to be anything but civil with you, btw disagree does not equal hate NOR does it man someone is overreacting because they wrote more than a "nice, awesome, sweet!" Those people were not reaching out to holocaust victims, they were starting a disgusting trend of character designs based on those who aided in the murder/torture/genocide of millions.
you could reach out to hurting people with this character, or you can make suffering "cute", your call.
I do not condone pornography either, art is created for a separate reason than pornography, but that's a WHOLE 'nother topic. If I loved someone and valued our intimacy (implying private, loving, tender moments) WHY would I post images representing US as a COUPLE doing those things? that is how I feel, because love and sex are not for public display in my book. (do not confuse this with the PDA phobes, though people bumping and grinding in a department store NOT a gentle kiss, nudge or cuddle.)

and my immediate reaction was...pain on a daily basis is not cute, this character being mended by a nurturing friend? endearing and cute. but this is going to hit someone with an illness differently.

I dont think even 10% of people drawing nazi related art actually support jews being killed. Some people really like badass uniform and strict whatever, which nazis are really potrayed as. You seem to only see the bad things in something someone does which is very rarely the case. Also from were you are coming from you label all the nazis as bad people and killing others. Thats the same as putting every say christian under " burning of witches and hating on gay people and throwing their kids out of their home if they are an atheist" Not all nazi soldiers murdered people, just like not all police men shoot people or attack innocent people because they can. Besides ive seen lots of cute chibinazis, and as they are fictinal characters they didnt really "attend" in the horrific things that happened during ww2. So your putting blame on everyone in that cathegory. I have nazis in my roleplay, and some are extreme and do horrible things, because its an easy steriotype to use, but that does not mean im trending on it like WOOO People lets make fun of the victims during ww2 because haha looook nazis are epic and everyone else sucks your making up your own I dunno, version of this.
So lets just use this locig of yours and apply it to other things and lets see how silly it actually is.

Or by creating this character im making fun of people with bad hair, because there are actually people out there who suffers a great deal loosing their hair, or having no hair. Just likeothers can suffer from something else on their body.
So its just you who see the picture overnegatively when its not even negatively ment, its just a fictional punch bag character. Which is a common steriotypical character to have in a show. A character whcih usually get hurt more than others for no reason. Maybe they are a clums, maybe its their faith, use your imagination.

I think my comment just got completely missed or taken out of context... possibly my fault for my wording though? I would not make ANY connection between these characters and those who were slaughtered but it is not a trend and never should have been treated as one. Much like the assumptions made on my viewpoint, many were deeply hurt and offended by this graphic novel on the holocaust [link] because people with immediate family who suffered said there was no way this person could have identified with the topic nor done it justice. I really am talking to you so it ISN'T about only my stance, that's why I kept commenting is what I mean. But, even if it was unrelated or not- I can pick up on negative things too but keep in mind this MAY be the only work of yours I have commented on??? so yeah it's hard to derive positive from that....
this is different to me, again than those "personal" characters but this may just be coming down to viewpoints/opinions when my point was to mention a broader topic at hand, whether that is stereotypes like you mentioned, Chronic pain/illnesses or Genocide. I just feel like these characters can relate to the topic in a way that can help people rather than be treated as yet another internet trend ( yep, I have a deer character too

Why would people want to do extensive research and only draw art to support causes (especially when they don't really affect them?) That's just silly... I mean, when ever I see something I don't agree with, I skip over it... I personally don't want to waste the time of my life to say something negative about it (Whether it was civil or not), because somebody is always going to take it the wrong way, and why would I expect anyone to care what I thought anyways?? lol

People will always be offended, which doesnt matter and is why I gave you that quote by stephen fry. some People who got raped, will be offended if rape is used somewere, some people who suffered a fire will be offended if fire is used somewere, people who were affected by the nazis will be affected if thats used, people who got has any negative past/episode with anything will somewhat or somehow or not even affected by what they experienced. But they have no right to make others stop by claiming others support/makefunof/ridicule/etc the things they unfortantly had to go through. Thats very selfish and arrogant. "Do as I say and respect me for what Ive been through because this and because that" They have not earned any respect. if they dont like it, they can close their eyes and walk away. Its a totally diffrent matter if they are unwillingly shoved it up their face. But if you are browsing an artsite/the internett/ whatching a movie and somehow get offended on others behalf or whatever, no one really cares, and theres no reason for you to make others care either.

xD your views on how horrible my character doesnt mean anything to me. My fictional character has no feelings, its a drawing. Pixels put together, A circle has just as much meaning as this art has. I could draw a baby being punched in the face and it would have no meaning.

and I truly have a chronic illness and was very clear about why people may misunderstand, I was being completely civil and pointing out why one may misunderstand, lets not create the very misunderstanding I meant to avoid >< as I stated, I don't know what perceptive the character was created from and I too would defend the artist but I am in pain every day and can name other people you may know from this community (given their permission) who are also suffering and despite their status as an artist continue on and may also see this entirely differently. I don't want to be fan-flogged here, I also enjoy this persons art and simply posted a comment and question so hopefully this isn't goign to turn into something else.

Just adding it really is just a fictional character. (not to even slightly compare the two at ALL but) I have ADHD but I'm not offended when people have those shirts that say
"ADHD means attention deficit- oh look a butterfly!"
even though it is a pretty douchey thing to put on a shirt.
(but i mean what offends me is when teachers try to give me drugs because "I don't look at the teacher enough" when the drugs have effects like sudden death (you just DIE there's not even an explanation) and permanent brain defects isnt even offensive its just why would you even give teenagers that to fix them)
