Working on my latest Dune entry, the opportunity arose to do another one of my UNBELIEVABLY BASIC tutorials (such as they are ... ), this time given that I rarely draw BIG guys, and therefore folk might find this useful/interesting/amusing ...

Anyways ...

1. the basic study, starting with my basic stick-figure framework to establish the pose, then fleshed out with the musculature, etc. Like I always say, while you won't see most of this detail in the finished piece, I still find it extremely useful in establishing how the clothing interacts with his form.

2. mid-way through the process, as I establish where his accessories are placed. Even so, I neglected to put in his baliset - this was almost an afterthought, but it made sense once it occurred to me since it pretty much DEFINES the character.

3. This time you get to see the basic finished rough sketch, before I flesh out my lineart with the mechanical pencil, which, when I use the lightbox, easily stands out over the pale, hard lead lines of the 2H pencil. Just thought you guys might be interested in seeing this particular trick ...
