That's a fantastic expression. It's really easy to see the frustration and anger is bleeding off her face.

Tomoe doesn't like being restrained. And she doesn't play well with Lord Hibiki.

Those who play with her may find she is no 'mere woman'.

Samurai were often a cocky bunch - - especially cliche bad guy samurai who always seem to show up in Japanese period adventure fiction. They probably think those are enough restraints to hold "a mere woman".

No, you won't. Usagi is one of the very few remnants of my Bad Old Days of comic collecting. Great stories, great characters.

Well, yeah, Kurosawa did pretty well with "Seven Samurai" and my favorite, "Yojimbo", and a few others. But Usagi Yojimbo is the best samurai COMIC around.

I'm going to have to see if I can pick up a reprint of that (they reprinted "Enemy Ace", my all-time favorite, so why not?).
I loved "Seven", even made better when you realize that they had no CGI for the arrows. The scene where a woman is running across a square and a mounted archer thunders past, and you see the arrow take her in the back? Well, Kurusawa had her put a block of wood under her kimono and then had a trained archer just off camera. If you slow the video down, you can actually see the arrow in the air!
Farmer: "Where will we find samurai who will fight for rice?"
Elder: "Find hungry samurai."

I never knew that. I bet he couldn't have gotten away with that post-Vic Morrow.
Fantagraphics has collected all the Usagi Yojimbo stories published under their imprint. I don't know about the stories published under the Dark Horse imprint, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes, they have. I think the first 7 volumes are Fantagraphics, and Dark Horse has the rest up to around 20 or so.
