Description Túrin Turambar is the primary protagonist and tragic hero of the novel The Children of Húrin, published after Tolkien's death by his son Christopher Tolkien. On my conceptual art Turin is carrying an elven outfit and the Dragon Helmet - a famous artifact, made by Dwarves, ancient helmet of king Azahgal. I designed this helmet after a huge inspiration of Alan Lee's ilustrations from "The Children of Hurin". I just added some nordic ornament from Dor-Lómin and a metal mask, that gave Turin a heroic anonymity. I wanted it to look like a mix of roman and anglo-saxon helmet.

Incredible! What program did you use to make this? I've been looking into trying digital art; but I don't have a clue as to what software to use.

The roman helmet is derived from celtic armor, as seen in the La Tene era www.bing.com/images/search?q=e… . Chain mail is also a celtic invention, ring mail being a conceit by the norse. Additionally the face mask is norse, but the gladiators also adopted a similar effect. Besides that...um...the saxons were norse. The anglos were the celtic inhabitants of Brittania, otherwise known as Angloland  (or "England" in modern terminology).

What you've got, sir, is a celtic and norse inspired aesthetic, down to the coolus--i.e., the Gallic (As in Gaelic, as in the gauls, as in celtic www.bing.com/images/search?q=G… Emperial design---and the norse styled "browed" face mask.

Dear codyrush, thanks for Your lecture about the shortcomings of my description, I find it very interesting, really, because I consider myself as a history - lover, despite the fact I don't have much time to study it. Anyway, now I will know what the helmet looks like for the historical armament expert, but I still think I know very well what inspired me I want to underline the fact, that the illustration refers to a fantasy world, and as an inspiration I mean an impression, that's what I find in roman armament similar to this one. I dont' really take account about deatils and I'm not extremely correct about historical sapects.

I've been researching iron age armor and battery for a celtic epic I'm scripting. I'm hardly an expert. Part of me just rankles when I see so many people attribute Roman aesthetics to exclusively Roman designers when nothing could be further from the truth. Meanwhile the celtic culture, who the Romans aped their designs from, is known for being blue and in a kilt. Sorry, what you witnessed was a spasm of historical puritanism.

Excellent work. I especially enjoy your design of the helmet, particularly the visor. The visor is often neglected in many illustrations of the dragon helm. I love all the references to Elvish design as well, especially the boots.

Lovely work! I like the leaf blade on his sword, but I think it should be a bit longer to pierce Glaurung. Keep up the good work!

I think (I don't remember it for sure at the moment) the blade You see is a simple elvish sword, Turin in Doriath earned the Dragon helmet, but the black sword Gurthang, the one that killed Glaurung and... whatever, it's a spoiler anyway ... that sword was given to Turin a long time later in Nargothrond. Thank You for Your opinion and for appreciation

This is Amazing. I LOVE the design!! The helmet specially. I like that you kept close to Alan Lee's design on it, yet it still has it's own touch (not only is the face protected, but the details are also a bit different). I also like the clothes. Lee's version that appears on the cover of the book, while it looked perfect, always seemed a bit dull to me. It made one (or at least me) focus on the head only, since the position of the body and the sword, combined with the colours, always seemed to melt it all into one block at a first glance. But your version actually has some color and interesting design, really like it.

Wow! This is probably my favorite of your spectacular works - brilliant original designs that match the movies' style with a flair of your own, and the rich color work, including more realistic leather color/texture than most people manage, and the active pose that highlights the man's *skill* without losing the majesty most artists only show in an upright and static stance.

You're my new favorite artist here, which is saying a lot.
