An A3 sized interactive calendar page.

This is just to show how the three different versions of the Japanese ama divers will be divided, so when it's made up out of real paper the different sections will fold back separatly and you can mix and match.

Brief:
Ama: [link]
Attempting to correct the misconception that ama divers were beach babe pin-ups. In reality, the most skilled ama divers were the older ones, aged in their 50s, 60s and even 70s. They are strong and courageous, performing dangerous jobs.

There are 3 'versions' of Ama divers.
1. The young pretty topless pin-up version, romanticized by Westerners and the Japanese alike.
Photographers would select only the youngest prettiest ama to photograph, particularly in the 40s and 50s when they dived topless. Japanese prints dating 200-300 years old also show beautiful ama divers with long black hair – unlike real ama, who wear their hair short for ease of care and to make diving less dangerous.

2. The white suited ama divers that are essentially just tourist attractions, like ama who perform in Ama Queen beauty competitions.

3. And the 'true' ama divers – those who go against the traditional concept of Japanese beauty – with old tanned wrinkled faces and burly attitudes.
