Batman and the Outsiders. Yup, there was a time when Batman quit the Justice League to form his own crew. And we were all. like, whaaaat?

This is also a tribute to a definitive Batman artist, Jim Aparo.

I am currently reading the original run and it's amazing.

I agree about Barr.  He's one of the definitive Batman artists.

You probably meant Jim Aparo. But yes, that was a great series.

Great work. I've always been an Aparo fan. This was one of my favorite books growing up and one of the most underrated teams in all of comicdom .

They did already re-introduce Looker, but now she's a vampire. Yawn. But we have also seen the new 52 versions of Black Lightning and Katana. I'm thinking an Outsiders is on the way at some point.

I loved the Outsiders! Great piece! Now I'm sure DC will find a way to screw this up too in the new 52! Ha ha!

Yup. It was to rescue a friend. At the time the League was bound by political chains and red tape. Batman couldn't be part of a group that wouldn't go rescue people due to political reasons.

Oh I'm thinking of a different group... I can't remember what they are called but I know that Red Arrow and a few other antiheroes were part of them.

Are you thinking of Red Hood and the Outlaws? Red Arrow was apart of that one..

At some point, Red Arrow and other heroes joined the Outsiders. But Batman was the founder and these were the first members of the group.
