Description Despite all the renders I've posted of the RAR, I have yet to post one of it laying on it's side to expose the belly of the rifle. So here it is! You can clearly see the magazine paddle release, operable from either a right-handed or left-handed shooter. The spring that returns the release, as well as the magazine contour that is milled into the lower receiver.

If you head down towards the barrel, you'll notice how the gas port secures to the tube-block concentric to the barrel axis. During a barrel change, the barrel would be slid just until the gas port is out of that shroud, then dropped out from that point.

Anyways, how you enjoy the render

Really good looking rifle, you can definitely see the SIG influence on some parts. Anyways here is just a few small suggestions from the fellow firearm designer regarding the mag well.

I think you should add bevel to the edges of the mag well in order to make it easier to reload. Also there is no need to have the mag well to exactly follow the contour of the magazine, it would be better to have mag well which would have simple rectangular cross section, similar to the mag well on the AR or G36 rifles. This would simplify and reduce the cost of the machining process and you wouldn't lose any functionality because the mag would still have tight fit inside the mag well and at the same time reloads would be faster and easier.

Appreciate the comment. However this is old, inaccurate and outdated. All the things you've mentioned, aside from the Contour have been changed. The mag well is contoured so that no other mags except mine will feed the rifle. My lower is also injection molded, which means no tooling required. There is also 1mm of space on either side of the magazine.

Ok, main reason I mentioned machining is because I thought that the lower is made of the aluminium.

It used to be in this rendition. But even then, it can be investment cast.
