I discovered that crosshatching is really good for achieving really high-contrast images while maintaining value differentiation because the shading in this technique is determined by the space between hatch marks rather than the value of the mark itself. I think I'm in love with how eroded and gross this sketch looks after I manipulated it in Krita.
