Description I'm so sorry to those who are fans of the TT 03' series. Let me make something very clear before you guys start to raise pitchforks at me:

I don't hate the Teen Titans original series. It does have its moments. I just think looking back at the series in my personal opinion, I noticed the flaws that plague it; such as the constant annoying-as-hell anime references, Starfire being a walking definition of a mary-sue, and by far my biggest problem is that it can't decide what tone it wants to be. One second it's goofy and lighthearted and then the next it's really dark. I just think the show is overrated, but that doesn't make it a bad show. This meme is just satire in an attempt to make fun of rabid Teen Titans Go haters who say that the original series was so perfect and it has absolutely no flaws with the series (you guys know who you are).

Like I said, if I offended anybody who are just regular fans of the show, then I would like to apologize to you. However, for the hardcore fanboys and fangirls, then you got nothing to blame but yourselves.

Teen Titans belong to DC Comics, Warner Bros. Animation, and Cartoon Network.

It's not. In fact, the Japanese don't care about the style. It's always funny when someone gets offended on behalf of others, when the "targets" are perfectly OK with it to begin with.

I never liked superheroes shows that are super dark (they're so boring).

And I agree, the constant anime mimic annoys me and it tries to hard to be like anime.

And the fans treat them like this show is flawless and treated the Go! one like it's the end of the world.

Why do the expressions in this look better than the show's actual attempt at trying to make this work, but failing?

I guess my issue is the fact I'm more exposed to comedy and Flash Animation more than what we had back then.

I point to school and homework as the reason why.

Teen Titans was more about being moralful than dark, when it came to the serious parts.

Teen Titans goal was to be a more fun, modern show at the time. While Justice League and Batman: TAS was trying to be brooding and dark. Teen Titans was trying to be more of an modernΒ approach with it's anime style as well as pop culture refrences as well as modern day dialogue. It was veryΒ unique for DC for it's time. It's kinda like Ninja Turtles more than theΒ previous DC shows. I did a whole review on the show so take a look: fastsonicous.deviantart.com/ar…

As for me, I enjoy the hell out of Teen Titans Go. I know many people hate it, but I enjoy it.

Heh, I KNOW this was not a perfect show. If I wanted perfect Teen Titans, I'd read the comics. Ironically, this was just as hated by comic fans when it first came out as TTG is now by everyone else.

If I wanted a dark, edgy DC cartoon, I'd stick with Bruce Timm's Batman TAS. On the other hand, if I wanted a bunch of teens fighting the monster of the week with a story arc somewhere in the pie, I'd watch Young Justice.

I find it overrated, because people who hate TT Go like this show for being dark, demented, and story driven. Β if they want dark, demented shows, they shoulD sign up for Amazon Prime and watch Spawn TAS.

Exactly. Or even shows like Aeon Flux, MTV's The Maxx, or even Gargoyles.

Teen Titans was actually one of my favourite shows when I was little and I still really like it. I get that it's not perfect, though. Starfire isn't the worst character. She at least has flaws, but BB was always my favourite. And I don't mind that it changes tone. Avatar, Steven Universe and a few anime I watch do that too.
Teen Titans Go! is a hit or miss for me. It's not that I'm salty about it making fun of the '03 series. It's funny sometimes, but it's just so dumb.

Awesome-O [2016-12-10 00:53:15 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Not to mention how loosely it plays with the original comic material (and yet people trash on Go! for debasing the '03 cartoon), as well as the basic existence of the DC Animated Universe shows which did at least pay a modicum of respect to the comics.

I think even Young Justice is a better action show than Teen Titans even could have been. YJ to me is what Teen Titans should have been. I thought the characters were likable and the humor isn't anywhere near as forced as Teen Titans. I'm so looking forward to Season 3 coming out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Awesome-O In reply to GutsSkywalker [2016-12-12 00:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. Young Justice did go a little too far with the season long arc with season 2 with all the cliffhangers. I prefer the occasional/frequent stand-alone episode to mix things up, and at least a small victory/reprieve here and there.

Right now I'm looking to any future animated movies for my fix, including the upcoming Judas Contract feature.

"Let's Get Serious" was an actual kind of funny if not uber-clever spoof. Even Greg Weisman found it amusing IIRC.

Pretty much my thoughts on this show. I find it overrated with all the praise it gets. There are better american animated shows such as Avatar:The Last Airbender, Samurai Jack, Megas XLR, Steven Universe, and the superior Young Justice to name a few.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GutsSkywalker In reply to Phoenixgrimm22 [2016-11-14 06:34:26 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. Personally, Young Justice to me is what Teen Titans should have been. I thought the characters in YJ were far more interesting than TT '30 and the humor was better IMO. Teen Titans's humor felt incredibly forced. Nothing inherently wrong with anime visuals and art style in Western cartoons (something that Megas XLR, Sym-Bionic Titan, and Avatar did pretty well). It's really the way Teen Titans did it and how it's executed is, I thought, what turns me off (not trying to sound dirty here). I may do an IMDB user screencap review on this show somewhere down the line akin to my Yo-Kai Watch IMDB review.

I dont like this show but doesnt it make you look like a weeaboo to think Anime references are "offesnive to the japanese"

They have done many typical "Western" things.
And we dont get offended, so it's safe to say they aren't offensive.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GutsSkywalker In reply to CHELRY-v [2016-10-10 00:29:20 +0000 UTC]

I was exaggerating when I say that it was offensive to the Japanese. I was taking a jab at the constant anime-sight gags that this show does. Admittedly, there's nothing wrong with Western cartoons that take notes or take inspiration from Japanese animation. Avatar TLA, Korra, Megas XLR, and the Thundercats reboot both had done this and they're pretty decent for what they were. To me, it's the way Teen Titans '03 does it that felt really forced to the point that it takes me out of the mood and tone.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Awesome-O In reply to GutsSkywalker [2016-12-10 00:55:15 +0000 UTC]

Steven Universe as well.

It's not unlike the art of sampling or borrowing a song's hooks. It's not bad as long as it doesn't hijack the song. TT's anime-isms were tantamount to MC Hammer/Puff Daddy/etc.

They sure are. After watching Justice League vs. Teen Titans, it made me really want a darker Teen Titans animated series that's more true to the comics. Have a similar approach Young Justice had and there you go.

That way, the nostalgia fans can keep their '03 series, the little kids of this generation can keep Teen Titans Go for themselves, and folks who both grew up more with the original comics and for folks like us who wanted something new from the franchise. Abso-freaking-lutely.
