Description This pic is the very first full color work I did when I just teaching myself paint.net. (You can see another version of this pic here [link] ). That was over a year ago, and wasn't quite what i had in mind.

Now that I've been "practicing" for a year (in addition to learning Photoshop Elements) I decided to "redo the same pic completely in PSE and this is the result.

Dunno about you but I would SO buy this comic!

Original line art by EJM -- evrything else is by me! I still have a lot to learn but I think this turned out darn spiffy!

Great job. I just started drawing at 42. My job... I had a lot of stress at work and My wife miscarried our child. I just needed something to get me out of the funk. I was brought back to these wonderful older comics that I used to read. I love what you have done with them. Never heard of the paint we sight. I have not tried photoshop. Just Acrylic paint, and India ink. Thanks for sharing man. I appreciate your hard work! May you have a lot of success at what you love to do.

Thank you very much. Truth be told, I really don't think I have much artistic talent. If I had to do and of this on paper or in a physical medium, I'd be lost. I'm good at looking at computer programs and getting the most from them. I also do a fair amount of writing when I can.

My sympathies on your loss. We went through a few miscarriages ourselves before our 2 kids were born. I've often found that doing something creative -- art, writing, dance, theatre-- always helps me relieve stress.

As far as success goes, I just recently got accepted into grad school, so my contributions for the next 2 years may be limited. But after that... well, the sky's the limit.

Good luck with your renewed passions and to your own successes as well.

It's great to see these classic characters getting drawing with such respect and amazing beauty as you give us.

Thanks Nate. I think they have scads of untapped potential. And the artist of this pic EJM deserves 99.999% of the credit for making them so vibrant.

Looks better than what DC's doing with them.

Re: the DC books now...I understand. I'm of the opinion that any Crusaders books are better than nothing at all. How do you think the new books compares to the Impact line?

Glad you like the pic. I have some very definite ideas of what I'd do with the team if I had input on them. In fact, I have a commission that hopefully will be finished that posits a 'new' take on the Crusaders...

I'd buy that. 'Too Many Super-Heroes' the 50s and 60s Alan Class re-prints (Secrets of the Unknown, etc) I was a fan.

Not in bad company, as a huge part of Moore's work e.g the Watchmen, Tomorrow Stories, is based on his childhood Charlton super-heroes of this kind, e.g. 'The Fly', 'The Shield'!

And actually when Alan first starting thinking of the Watchmen, instead of the Charlton characters, he was going to use the Archie Heroes. If you look at the Minutemen, you can see some inkling of that idea still there: Captain Metropolis (Shield), Comedian in both costumes (Black Hood), Dollar Bill (Captain Flag), Hooded Justice (Hangman) and Mothman (Fly). In an interview I read, Alan thought the story should open with the murder of Lancelot Strong, the 2nd Shield. Obviously the story got changed along the way, but it does make me wonder what the final product had looked like if he used the Archie Heroes.

pretty sure its EJM, his name is EJ Morges. You should join his board. Just go to [link] and look for his forum. I'm sure he would love to catch up.

SimplyCharlene for the vacationing Sharon;

Hello, Gregg, I am Sharon's baby sister, myself
a DA-member, and the kid sister to both
Kate-Anne and Sharon-Rita Williams.

I do photos and writing for the WS Art Studios, also. Work with Rinna and azmariahoney, just
made a long trip to Wisconsin to see them
a few days ago to get ready for Sharon's trip
to Australia, New Zealand, and Japan!

It is quite different for me to be the temp. head
of a website with almost 14000 pageviews and
over 300 deviations, why my website has just
20 deviations and 500 pageviews.

All that aside, I would but this MC comic book.
It is well-rendered.

Hi Charlene,

Pleased to me you. Glad you liked the redo. EJM is a great artist!

Sharon sounds like she'll be gone a while. If you talk to her, tell her I said hi. From the sounds of it you fit in quite well here at DA. I don't think I've been to yours or Kate-Anne's sites. I'll have to check 'em out.

Charlene here,

Katie-Anne is now in heaven, but the pics Sharon and she worked on, many of them are posted here under what
Sharon calls 'The Legacy Collection'. I can tell you,
being the kid sister to both, I was there when they
would work sometimes all night to do line-art and colors, two very tired redheads who were known to sleep on couches and I would watch Katie-Anne's children along with mine, Gregg.

My own site is 'SimplyCharlene', it is not as large as
Sharon's, more like Sharm's or azmariahoney's, but
as I am also a mom to 3 children of my own and an
exchange student from the Union Of South Africa,
Desmond, I am a bit busier than Shar.

I think about at least 3 weeks until Sharon & Jerry
return, but they will be visiting our nephew's unit
from Afghanistan, including 3 women, on liberty in
Tokyo, Japan, saved by Katie's ghost.
Our family-friend and best customer from when Katie
was still alive, is paying the entire trip himself,
because he still likes Sharon's work, plus our new
partners.
Also, his wife wanted to get back to her father's
homeland, Australia, plus Suze wanted to go to Tokyo.
What his wife wants, she gets!

I shall tell Shar, she is sending me fax-letters each day and we talk on the phone.

A pleasure to have met you, Gregg.
