Where I am, they're called "Les Félins Légendaires", or the Legendary Felines. Raikou is a Smilodon (sabretooth tiger), Entei is a Lion and Suicune is a Cheetah.

Actually, Suicune's the only actual dog among them, it's the snout!

I know your comment is old but Suicune is not a canine, it is based on the Chinese mythical creature Krilin which is also known as the Chinese unicorn. This creature has different features of many animals like canines and felines, so it is basically the Chinese version of the Chimera.

We figured with the snout and, going on the fur patterns, I figured Suicune to be a Great Dane, the second largest breed of dog... after the Irish Wolfhound!
But, anyway, I still don't understand their sizes! I mean, why isn't Raikou bigger than Entei? Tigers are the largest big cat, not lions!
