Description Ness, main character of the video game Earthbound, on SNES, also called Mother 2.
I love this game, which must be one of the best old-school RPG I've ever seen. Its design is soooo cool
I choosed to represent him doing the PEACE sign because it's the sign he does on the photos taken during the adventure.

Made pixel by pixel on Photofiltre 7.

I used this to make Ness pixel art in Minecraft, thanks.

Lucas was harder, since he has yellow on his shirt, two shades of blonde for hair, and two shades of skin. That wasn't easy to pull off, and he still looks less professional than Ness.

Pleased to know it helped you !

Earthbound takes place in a 80's-inspired world, which can explain the colors are more 'flashy'.

Since I never played Mother III (wanna finish Earthbound first haha), I never pixelled anything from it, but as soon as I will play it, I promise I will suffer like you did Β

Yeah the Japanese tend to hold out on the other countries a lot! I always wanted to try out and see what Mother was all about too. Well least they sent us Fire Emblem becuase they were going to hold that series as well for Japan only. In fact there was a scary article saying Fire Emblem Awakening was going to supposedly be the last Fire Emblem game if it did not sell well. The game was a huge success and that smacked Nintendo in the face for thinking that way. So dont know why they still holding Mother for Japan only but its no use keeping something in a vault forever! Am I right? Lolz

This sucks, really. I didn't know about Fire Emblem, but at least it proves Nintendo knows how to make good games. The problem is, they don't want to share our masterpieces with us Mother series is definitely one y.y

Yeah Nintendo I love them and you gotta hate them for dumb stuff like this. But yeah Fire Emblem Awakening was amazing! It was my first ever Fire Emblem game and OMG! That game was AWESOME!!

I love Nintendo too, but I have the strange feeling they are doing kinda rubbish. Games are still good, but in terms of communication, it's blurred, and there's the mindset you exposed with Fire Emblem too. Best games were, as far as I'm concerned, in the early Wii era: Mario Kart Wii, Zelda Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime Trilogy. Since this, I'm a little bit deceived.

Yeah you should look it up. I dont know What The Hell!! Was up with Nintendo for trying that move on Fire Emblem too! Twilight Princess was also for Gamecube but yeah I loved Twilight Princess. I fell off the taste with Mario Kart but I think I will get back into Mario Kart again. Last one I played was Mario Kart Double Dash on Gamecube. I loved Metroid Prime and I beat and kept them all! Stinks that Metroid Other M was a mess. :/ Also Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were on gamecube and 3 was the only really Wii only game. Skyward Sword Zelda was fun but could not top Twilight Princess really. So yeah Wii U is coming and theres a lot of promise on it for better games.

I think the same as you about Metroid and Zelda. My only big deception is that Nintendo doesn't have a RPG series on its own. Of course many RPGs have been released on Nintendo consoles (Xenoblade Chronicles was amazing), but I'm sure they have the means to do a great RPG series by themselves. I love RPGs y.y

That is funny that there is not an RPG series. Well guess theres a spotlight for us to take haha. They had RPGS like GOLDEN SUN but those were 1 game entries. :/

Oh, on fact there have been three Golden Sun games
Golden Sun, Golden Sun: The Lost age (both released on GBA) and GS: Dark Dawn released on DS.
The gameplay and the unisverse of GS is quite good, but it's not enough known. I read there'll be another GS, a sequel of the third one, in preparation too

Oh so wow Golden Sun still lives to this day then! Thats awesome. So I wonder if Nintendo will give them a huge spotlight or they just publish it really. A 3DS title of Golden Sun would get some Attention I know that

There have been 6 years between 2nd and 3rd GS games, so I'm not really sure it is Nintendo's priority
Moreover, you didn't know about the last 2 games, proof that it's not one of their main series (in the same time, they don't really advertise it, so it's normal, I suppose)
With the performances of actual consoles, they should release the 3rd first games again, plus the next to come, with collector goodies or whatever, as they did with Metroid Prime Trilogy: Collector Edition *0* It'd be a good way to reintroduce the series to young gamers who can't know it, and also for collectionners.

I fall more for collectioner andI think thats a great idea. Just like they did with remaking Kirby Super Star and the fans demand a remake of Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask to be made as well. The one thing we gotta give Nintendo credit for is they make games because they want to and not just for the profit and money. Hate their long waits to finally make a decision but they always come up.

Indeed, they take their time, but they make really good stuff.
They re-released TLOZ Ocarina Of Time on 3DS, which was very very demanded too, they surely will release other games as well.
I read few days ago they released Earthbound on the Wii Shop, proofΒ  - I hope - the series is not dead to them

Oh Yeah that was the big news recently too. Your right man. Yeah Earthbound is not dead to them and they know they got more series than DK,Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. Their newest series Pikmin finally got a part 3 after 8 years later when Pikmin 2 was out on Gamecube and remade later for Wii. So yeah there some light shining on Earthbound again and hey hopefully something new finally happens. I hope Earthbound comes on 3DS also

Pretty Awesome Pixel of Ness! Loving the piece sign you did for him as well! Though you should put up a better description as well. Say how you made it and what inspired you to it too

Yeah you would be surprised how you get better results the more friendlier you sound with your decriptions. Also I never knew Ness was from part 2 of Mother. I always thought he was the mian character before Lucas came in.

I'll try to remember it
In fact, Mother's main character's name is Ninten, but he wears a red hat and a striped T-shirt, so his design is nearly identical as Ness'. They both fight with baseball bats too, so I think Ness is just an "improved version" of Ninten. Indeed after Lucas came in Mother 3 as the main character.

Oh so there was a guy before Ness but they use Ness more than him as it would confuse people who is who. So there have only been 3 Mother games too? I thought there would have been more but there has not been a entirely new Mother game for years now right?

Haclio In reply to AngelShadow3593 [2013-07-16 06:51:19 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, there've only been three Mother games, the last has been released in 2006, and only in Japan. It's a pity Mother and Mother 3 never got out of Japan as well.
I heard moments ago a new Mother would be released, but after some researches, it appears it'll just be a fangame. But with what I saw, it seems to be quite good and totally in the Mother series spirit. (main fight and exploration lines, etc) I'll play it for sure when it'll be released
