Ah. I've never heard of that one, actually? How good is it?

Yeah, SketchBook isn't as popular as PS or SAI, but I really like it. It just feels natural, and comes with some cool painterly style brushes and features. There's also a 'flipbook animation' tool, so if I ever felt brave enough to animate something again I can. The only downside is because it isn't as well used, there's no additional brushes or anything to install (the company makes them to give away on their blog, but only for the latest version, and mine is outdated). And there doesn't seem to be a binary function, so I can't pixel or make great graphics either. Other than that I love it!

That sounds cool! Is it expensive?
Pixel art? Ah...is there an anti-aliasing feature you can turn off? Or is that the same thing as binary and I'm a scrub--

Literally the only thing I know about anti-aliasing is that if it's on, lines look smoother, and if it's off, they look sharper:
I used to have it off so I wouldn't have gaps between the colour and the lineart, but that was because I was a scrub and hadn't yet figured out the 'expand' function on the fill tool.

So far as I know, yeah. XD No idea what they mean by 'aliasing' but that's what it looks like.
Well, there is in FireAlpaca at least. I don't know about other digital art programmes because I've never really used anything else besides MS Paint. If it's not though, it really should be. XD Since I hard-cell shade, I use the fill tool and then do touch-ups by hand. You do more advanced detailing than I do so colouring by hand makes sense.
*snort* I know that feel lmfao

You know, I did have problems getting my digital pen to function properly in Sketchbook; it would lag from tablet to screen, and nothing I tried worked. While researching the problem, I did see a lot of people had not only my same issue, but yours as well. Mine was fixed by going into General Preferences and un-ticking the box under Graphics that says Enable Rotate Canvas. I guess that means I can't rotate anything to work on it, but I haven't tried yet. Maybe that might help you?
I also haven't tried looking for different brushes yet. For one, I'm lazy, but for another, I seem to do okay with just the handful of basics. And Sketchbook is a lot newer than my ancient, fuddy-duddy PS so it has many more basics than I'm used to! It's awesome, actually. XD But yeah, I'm the same way; having to fiddle with so many various settings (flow, opacity on different pressures, size, etc.) is kinda frustrating. If you have it on the Mac though you should totally give it a whirl!
Wait, what? You're moving again?! What happened?!Β Β

I'll have to give the Sketchbook thing another try, but I found this too, so that may also be the problem. I know I should fix it right now, but, packing. It sucks and I can't be bothered doing any damn thing. I might give the Mac a try once we've moved.
As for the moving... Well, our rather charming twat of a landlord has given us an illegal eviction notice, and rather than fight it, (which we could, very easily, and win) we thought we'd move and then fight the bastard. He's been hanging around and threatening to take our stuff... He only wanted us to move in and fix all his broken shit for nothing, you know, typical landlord shit. He employed a property manager to do his dirty work, but the property manager took one look at the situation and is on our side. I don't think he'll be managing the property for long though. He told the landlord that 'You are the property owner and I am the landlord!' Put him in his place! When we went out today we passed another property manager heading toward our place. Could have just been a coincidence.

D'ahh, the query must have gotten archived (or the erased) because the link didn't work for me. I'm currently having problems with my Sketchbook again. I thought it was my tablet, but that works fine in PS. It keeps freezing, to the point every couple minutes I need to close the entire program. It's so frustrating, having to stop/start on a drawing. I color primarily in PS, but I need Sketchbook to draw/ink so it's like I'm getting nowhere. Hopefully it decides to start working again, because nothing I try fixes it...
Β Any luck with the Mac or Sketchbook, now that you're moved?
What the what?! An eviction notice! Your last landlord was indeed an ass. I'm so glad you're outta there, but are you still going to fight the eviction? Good luck to you guys with that. Well, somebody sure needs to put that man in his place.
