I got the idea to draw this not to long ago. The first time I drew a Vort Roach wasn't too long ago, and it was pretty close and detailed.. but it wasn't detailed enough for me. I've also changed and refined the Vort-Roach design a little since then. It might sound stupid, but I actually wanted to make sure to draw a picture while using real Cockroach reference pictures to make sure I got the main body design right. For example, I actually changed how Roachy's front legs here are hinged.. they're actually hinged the opposite way of the two rear legs.. kinda like a horse for example.Well anyway, if you guys ever wanted to see in vivid detail Roachy's face as Nex-Kel has surely seen either holding him in her hand or watching through his aquarium here's your chance! I've often used the expression "its so close you can smell the roach oils." XD
BTW: Does this make anyone else hungry for Rad-Roach meat?

Aw man I wish you were with me at school last year when the girls next door to us got a roach in their room...they were screaming their heads off! sorry, it's just that ever since I saw the bug canyon from the King Kong remake I've been a little paranoid. but I have been recovering ever since I bought the flamethrower. SPIDER! *whoooooooosh*
and I have nothing against Roachy personally. he is the cutest roach I've ever seen.

I know what you mean, it is both of those things. Close up you see all his spines and joints and..oils.. very scary. But that face looking up at you is cute. ^^

I'm guessing this, once it's cooked the exoskeleton becomes more soft and rubbery.. kind of like when you cook a crab or lobster, after that you have to crack the shell open to get to the meat. However, how you eat it raw is a mystery.
