Okay let's see if I can procedurally generate a short story off the top of my head, without thinking very much;
On tuesday, uncle charlie was still not sure how to render the hollow matrix shaft from his 4D printer. The slug would print but it wasn't alive. Something was preventing the slug from staying together, so it would just print out mush. My brother had his scanning electron microscope out, in parts all over the floor of course. One part had been lodged in the bottom of my foot five minutes ago, so while I wait for the skin ReMesh unit to charge, I'll see if I can piece together the microscope and take a look at that slug. Charlie is great at printing out dead objects, the detail is superb, but mercy sakes he can't print a living object worth dirt. And some dirt has gold in it. Alright so the microscope is together, well this is just obvious. The slug is missing a lot of genetic traits. What was he trying to print out, a genetically modified super slug? Let me try it again. Okay so this time the machine printed a wooden slug, but the wood seems to be mixed with graphine and a grid of conductive metals. Wait a minute... Let's see if I can 4D print a human heart in motion, made out of this super wood material. Nope, that didn't work, but its able to move, just not by itself. It's like a mechanical wood, it's highly compressed wood fiber with conductive lanes of data. Well let's look at it with the microscope... Oh goodness, this wood is a computer. The printer converted a living tissue schematic into a solid state mechanism made of wood. The first wooden computer. I may win a Trump X-Prize for this. Alright to bed I go...
Well it's 7 AM, what is that buzzing sound? Oh the wooden heart has increased in size. The printer just kept printing. I can't get to the printer, the wooden heart is now a cage around it. Ah oh well, it'll print until it chokes itself out.
5 PM, the printer is still buzzing and the wooden heart is now too large to fit through the door. What is this thing up to?
One month later, the heart has been seized by Homeland Security. What's in it, what's it doing?
One day later, the heart has disapeared and I've been heavily questioned. How should I know?
One week later, the heart is now 50 miles across, in the Earths atmosphere. Military weapons have had no effect, it's just too strong. It's the feel of a wood structure to me, yet I also get the feeling of an 'old west' type structure from it. Could be the hull support for a space ship of some sort, or a boat, or whatever we could imagine.
Hmm... Well that's a start anyway ^_^
