Description Here's another Stitch and Experiments episode and this one centers around Elvis.  After all the original movie did have more Elvis songs than any other and I had to do an episode around the King.  This aired on Disney's One Saturday Morning on December 2 2017 and here it is.

STITCH AND EXPERIMENTS S1E9 “IT’S GOOD TO BE THE KING”

INT TOM SCHUMACHER HIGH DAY

LILO AND HER CLASSMATES ARE ABOUT TO GO TO THEIR MUSIC CLASS

Lilo:  My video presentation will have Mr Menken and Mrs Montan begging for more!

Mertle:  Well I wanna ask how you got Stitch into the school.

Lilo:  Well because he was a star and co-director!

Stitch:  I’ll accept my Oscar!

Victoria:  Well they’re about to be here any minute!

MR MENKEN COMES IN

Mr Menken:  Good morning, all my music representatives!  Your video essays are due!

Mrs Montan:  Who will be the first to present?  Victoria Deja with Britney Spears, Keoni Jameson with Will Smith, Mertle Edmonds with No Doubt or Lilo Pelekai with Elvis Presley!

Mr Menken:  Lilo, she has promise!

Stitch:  Good luck, Lilo!

Mr Menken:  Who is that?

Lilo:  I think the better question is “what is that”, well he’s my adoptive alien friend Stitch and he played a part in my video presentation as he was the co-director and star of a video history of the king of rock and roll Elvis!

DISNEY’S STITCH AND EXPERIMENTS

Based upon the characters created by CHRIS SANDERS and DEAN DeBLOIS

Developed for Television by CHRIS SANDERS DEAN DeBLOIS SCOTT RUDIN RICHARD RAYNIS FORD RILEY HARRY SHOEMAKER

LILO’S VIDEO PRESENTATION IS PLAYING

MONTAGE OF ELVIS’S BEST SCENES PLAYING

“IT’S GOOD TO BE THE KING”

Lilo (voiceover):  Elvis Presley, the biggest member of rock and roll royalty!  He is one of the most influential musical geniuses to ever walk the Earth, right up there with Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Michael Jackson and David Bowie just to name a few!

Written by HARRY SHOEMAKER CHRIS SANDERS and SCOTT RUDIN

Lilo (voiceover):  But in order to know about the King better we need to go into his long history so we can see why he’s among the best when it comes to popular music!

Directed by TONY CRAIG CHRIS SANDERS and DAVID SILVERMAN

GRAPHICS SAY “1935”

Lilo (voiceover):  The year was 1935, Babe Ruth hit his final home run before his retirement, Warner Bros gave America their first ever Looney Tunes star when Porky Pig first came onto the screen in “I Haven’t Got a Hat” and somewhere in Tupelo Mississippi…

INT MUSIC CLASS

Mertle:  I’m surprised that you managed to spell it right!

BACK TO THE VIDEO

INT HOSPITAL

Lilo (voiceover):  An incredible birth is about to take place!

PLEAKLEY IS DRESSED AS A NURSE WHILE NANI IS DRESSED AS ELVIS’S MOTHER

Pleakley:  One more big push!

Lilo (voiceover):  A legend in the making would be born!

Pleakley:  Congratulations Mrs Presley, it’s a boy!

A BABY-FIED VERSION OF STITCH IS SHOWN SYMBOLIZING THAT HE IS ELVIS

Lilo:  For some of the effects we used some of Stitch’s cousins.

Victoria:  So you couldn’t get any touch of Industrial Light and Magic?

Lilo:  Well if Roger Corman can talk about a film’s budget on a pay phone, shoot the movie in the booth and fund it by the coins in the change slot I could pull it off of my cell phone, shoot it in Stitch’s room and fund it by my allowance!

Lilo (voiceover):  While Elvis’s parents had an unusual family tree and had a twin brother who would never be heard from again the first true signs that his life would change would be at a talent show when he performed “Old Shep”.

Stitch (dubbed by Elvis):  When I was a lad
And Old Shep was a pup
Over hills and meadows we’d stray

Mertle:  Nice effect!

Lilo:  Kind of seamless!

Teacher:  Thank you Elvis!

Stitch (dubbed by an Elvis impersonator):  Thank you, thank you very much!

Keoni:  Now you got a guy who sounds like either Elvis or Johnny Bravo!

Lilo (voiceover):  Even though he was placed eighth, this event would later lead this young man into a music career.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

ACT II

LILO’S VIDEO CONTINUES

Lilo (voiceover):  7 years later Elvis moved to his more humble home of Memphis Tennessee, started playing guitar regularly and then in 1953, after many judge criticisms…

Judge:  I’m afraid you’re just too darn loud!

Lilo (voiceover):  He finally got into the offices of Sun Records where he was payed a few minutes to record a two-sided phonograph called “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin” and then after a few tries and fails he finally got his big break with his first ever album which was self-titled after him!  To which he said to his agent...

STITCH IS NOW WEARING ELVIS’S SUIT, PANTS AND HAIR AND HIS AGENT IS REUBEN

Stitch:  Woah, 25 grand?!  I’ll do it!

Reuben:  Just sign right here, here, here and initial here!

Elena:  Are you sure you’re doing this in chronological order?

Lilo:  If I’m gonna have some continuity errors then I should be having a kid by now!

Lilo (voiceover): By the mid-50s, Elvis was going from a common name to a household name when he made his first recording of the one and only “Heartbreak Hotel”.

Stitch: Okay, ready to go?

AUDIO ENGINEERS ARE SAMPLE AND SPARKY

Sparky:  Ready to go future King!

Stitch:  “King” that does have a nice ring to it.  Okay, one, two..
Well since my baby left me, I found a new place to dwell
Well it’s down the end of Lonely Street at Heartbreak Hotel
Where I’ll be so lonely baby, Well I’m so lonely,
Well I’m so lonely, I could die!

Lilo (voiceover): Around that same time he did a cover of the rockabilly hit song “Blue Suede Shoes”

Stitch: Well it’s one for the money,
Two for the show,
Three to get ready
Now go cat go
But don’t you step on my Blue Suede Shoes!
You can do anything but stay off my Blue Suede Shoes!

Lilo (voiceover): And with the multiple performances at venues across the country he landed his first national TV gig on the Milton Berle Show as well as Ed Sullivan performing one of his most successful songs ever…

Stitch:  You ain’t nothing but a Hound Dog, crying all the time!
You ain’t nothing but a Hound Doug, crying all the time!
Well you ain’t never caught a rabbit and you ain’t no friend of mine!

EXPERIMENTS CHEER IN THE AUDIENCE

Bonnie:  ELVIS!  YOU ARE BIGGER THAN SINATRA!

Clyde:  YOU CAN TAKE OLD BLUE EYES AND MAKE THEM BLACK AND BLUE!

Thresher:  Please, Mr Presley does not want to be pestered by you pesky fans!

Slushy:  Back off, nothing to see here!

Lilo (voiceover): With all of his fans across the US, he would eventually have a career in feature films starting with 1956’s “Love Me Tender” which $4.5 million on a $1.25 million budget and got lukewarm critical reception at best.  Along with the death of his mother and his army days he would still return to film and television and of course music, despite growing popularity of singers and bands like Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, Peter Paul and Mary and of course The Beatles!

Teresa:  You had to mention them didn’t you!

Lilo:  Well you had to do it!

Stitch:  Quiet, the movie’s still running!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

ACT III

LILO’S PRESENTATION IS STILL GOING ON

Lilo (voiceover):  During the 60s, Elvis was an icon but he had to take a break from his usual stuff for a while to make way for The Kinks, The Who, Queen and so on and so on.  Then in 1968 after making films like “Viva Las Vegas”, “Paradise Hawaiian Style”, and “Flaming Vein” in which the box office results were mild and the critics were brutal…

PLEAKLEY AND JUMBA ARE DRESSED AS GENE SISKEL AND ROGER EBERT GIVING THEM A “THUMBS DOWN”

Jumba and Pleakley:  THUMBS DOWN!

Lilo (voiceover):  He made a comeback where he was… a little chubby!

Yuki:  How did you get that effect?

Lilo:  In some shots I used Frenchfry to fatten Stitch up and in others I used Cannonball and they were digitally composited with Stitch’s head and body!  This is kind of my way of having my peanut butter and banana sandwich and eating it too!

MONTAGE OF STITCH SHAKING HANDS WITH NIXON (PLAYED BY EVILE), FILMING “BLUE HAWAII”, AND MARRYING PRISCILLA (PLAYED BY ANGEL)

Lilo (voiceover):  Even after meeting President Richard Nixon, filming “Blue Hawaii” and marrying Priscilla Presley, more artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Jones, Cher, Aerosmith, The Jackson 5 and so many disco bands would overshadow this icon but then of course Elvis eventually passed away in 1977 due to heart failures!

Angel:  Elvis!  Why couldn’t you have taken me with you?!

Lilo (voiceover):  Even though there are some debates on what happened to him in the afterlife…

NOSY AS A SUPERMARKET TABLOID READER SHOUTS THE FOLLOWING HEADLINE

Nosy:  Elvis isn’t dead, he was just living in a trailer park around the Jersey turnpike!

Cannonball:  He was cremated!

Holio:  He was taken into a black hole!

Lonelyhearts:  He faked his own death!

Gantu:  He was abducted by aliens!

MONTAGE OF EVERYTHING THAT LILO WILL SAY GOES ON INCLUDING A CAMEO FROM THE SUNBURNT TOURIST WHO EATS ICE CREAM AS AN ELVIS IMPERSONATOR

Lilo (voiceover):  His music would live on forever and artists would follow in his footsteps and become just as if not more successful than Elvis including Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Guns N Roses, Kurt Cobain, Will Smith, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Brandy, Monica and Steven Tyler just to name a few.  Not to mention the many covers of his famous songs, remixes and various Elvis impersonators!  But no matter who covers his songs, who impersonates him or even how he’s portrayed as a young man who’s all shook up or a fat guy who is near death’s door he will always be the king of rock and roll!

CAPTION SAYING “THE END”

Mr Menken:  So that was Lilo’s presentation.

Mrs Montan:  Any questions?  Comments?  Critiques?

Mertle:  I have something to say for Lilo…

Lilo:  Is it because I didn’t really do my homework too much?

Mertle:  Actually it’s something else…

A*TEENS’S VERSION OF “CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE” PLAYS IN THE BACKGROUND

Mertle:  You’ve really outdone yourself!

Teresa, Elena, Victoria and Yuki:  YEAH!

Lilo:  You mean you like it?

Mertle:  Yes!

Keoni:  It’s no masterpiece by any means but at least people can get a laugh out of it!

Stitch:  Come on!  I was great!

Victoria:  What about our others?

Mr Menken:  We’ll cover them after hours!

BELL RINGS

INT STITCH’S ROOM

Sparky:  Stitch!  How’s it going?

Stitch:  The class loved it!

Clip:  They loved my hair and makeup!

Angel:  They loved my performance!

Frenchfry:  Magnifique!

Sample:  Sweet!

Slushy: Do you think about distribution?

Stitch:  Naga-Takabah!  Stitch does not sell out!

Well more like Mrs Grimley from that As Told by Ginger episode "Driven to Extremes".  Ironically enough, Ginger's voice actress Melissa Disney was my first choice for Lilo but then I decided on Lauren Tom.
