Awesome. You really got the right mood in the sinking panel, even only using black inks.
How do you/ make action lines, those around the edges of the first panel? Do you set a vanishing point and then just zip them all there witha ruler?

Thanks. When doing something 'complex' just break it down into levels of items or effects. That panel is really very simple.
Speedlines are so damn simple. I used to think you cheated if you didn't hand rule them. What I do is get a backing board that will take repetitive punishment with thumbtacks. So get some thick sheet of soft wood, maybe put some art backing stuff on it. Then tape the page down and put a thumbtack in at the center of the lines... then use a ruler and nib, and go around the tack ruling the lines. Break them up and stagger lengths. Simple as hell. I used to think the Japs had something special, but it is really an excuse to give dynamic with very little skill or effort and it also negates drawing backgrounds at the same time. WIN-WIN, as they say.

Thanks for the tips, as always. Ever read the Naruto manga? Sometimes there are so many speed lines you can barely tell what's going on. I can't lie though, it's entertaining.

I was always bored by Naruto because it is some scenario so divorced from reality it makes no sense. And the inking is pretty sucky; anemic line quality. But sometimes they do draw some great shots.
I have a few volumes on my shelf for reference on those angles.
