Last night it was dark and foggy - so, naturally, I went to the cemetery!Surprisingly enough, I wasn't even that creeped out. I was more worried about any live people I saw there than any dead ones.
I hope this shot isn't too dark to see the detail in the foreground. I don't shoot at night often so I was unsure about editing.
Let me know if you think it's too dark.

Personally, I think I'd prefer it in an even higher contrast making the angel a black silhouette. Try it I think you might like it too

Just street lamps. I think they are the nice decorative globe kind there - the fog diffused the light really nicely!

Your Welcome. I would love to do some shoots in a Grave Yard. Did some in this one Grave Yard. But did not like the shots. Well maybe one or two of them I did. still deciding if I will put them up. This one is a great shot.

Thank you! This is one of my personal favourites!! I love to shoot in cemeteries! Some people think it's weird - but I love it there - it's so peaceful... I spend a lot of time there. Not as much as I used to now though, because I feel like I've shot all I can shoot there. My gallery has lots of them...
I'd love to go to a really big cemetery in a cool place like New Orleans and just shoot for days!!!

Now that would be COOL as all heck. I shot at this really cool cemetery a few weeks ago. The best one that I have ever seen. I want to go back and try to get some better shots.
They even had a pound with a Gazebo. Now how cool is that. I also want to make it back out to the National Cemetery where my Parents are at. That would be some good shots.
I do not think shooting in a Cemetery is weird at all. I found this really small and old one in the country side last year. It was a Church one. Did not like the shots I got there either. Some of the Grave stones were really old like 18 something. Well keep up the Great shots on your Cemeteries. And I will try to get good shots on the ones I go too and post some.

It sure would! When we were in Boston a few years ago the cemeteries were amazing! SO old and I loved reading some of the headstones - they were hilarious!!!! I wasn't really into photography then 
I think you really need to have some good lighting while shooting graves - like sunrise or sunset - it gives a sort of ethereal or dramatic feel to it. I shoot a lot in the winter as the blanket of white is so nice and if there is hoar frost on the trees.... aaaah - stunning!!
Yeah - and you know, with cemetery shots - it's easy to give them atmosphere by going B&W, or by adding a grungy texture or vignetting, etc. It can give them that little extra punch!!
I'll be watching for them!

I too was in Boson like in 2005 and we went to a lot of Cemeteries also. They have the best. The grave stones are so old. I was in Salome Mass (spelling?) and there Cemeteries were really cool. I too wish I was into to my Photography like I am now. I would have gotten some great shots. Plus back then I did not even have a Digital Camera.
I will post some of mine when I get some good shots.

Thanks! It was a great night for the cemetery - it was really foggy so the atmosphere was perfect! I don't do night shots often -but I would like to do more and get better at them! I was very happy with how this shot came out!

This photograph has caused me to pause and think. The way you have captured the light highlighting the angel is superb and I personally do not find the picture too dark. It's one of those stand alone photos that immediately catch the viewers eye. It appears in my mind that the angel is watching quietly and beautifully over those who have passed to the great beyond. Well done.

I really enjoyed reading your thoughts as you very clearly stated what I feel in my heart about this photo. Many people find shots like this to be foreboding or uncomfortable, but I find cemetery shots to be so peaceful. I love to go there and walk, ride my bike or just sit on a bench and think about things. The dead are good listeners.

In these days of fearing aging, let alone death, it is unfortunate that some of the most beautiful and creative pieces of art are simply not photographed. I too find cemeteries relaxing and peaceful, and often had long talks with my father before we left the UK, of course, as you say it helps that they can only listen! Although having said this it takes the right photographer to take such a wonderful and evocative shot! Thankyou again for sharing it.
