Wow. I love this. So down to earth. A scene that takes place millions upon millions of times around the world every day. Yet this is but one.

Sure. It might be my favorite of them all. Its a shot I would have like to have photographed. The perspective looks like maybe kneeling or sitting on the floor. Exactly how I would have shot it. If I had been there, I probably would have walked over to the middle of the floor and plopped down and been right where you were. Well, where your perspective was. slightly lower than her eye level.

I like this one more than the colored one, donΒ΄t know why. Wonderful drawing.

Je t'approuve.

Although I can't speak for you, I offer the reason I agree with you. It's the pencil where I work out the idea. For me the pencil is a "thinking tool". You know from 1972 until 1976 I held myself exclusively to the pencil refusing to attempt color until I had mastered all the important skills of composition, perspective, anatomy etc. Finally in color all these matter but with the addition of the difficulty of color harmony.

very well done. did you use a reference? or out of your head..?

This is a portrait of the actress Lillian Gish. I used a reference I found in a book on her career. This was from the silent movie of the same title, 1913--my favorite of her films. She lived from 1893 to 1993.

I'm sorry. I was thinking of another drawing. For "Girl Dreaming, pencil" I took a photo of my daughter for reference. The background with books is made up.
