I was never happy with how my old rendition of Mulan turned out, so over the last few months I totally redesigned the piece, and I'm much happier with the outcome. It will be a part of my print pack, which will be available soon on my etsy store. I'll also be looking to redo Belle soon too
Snapdragons represent strength and Orchid represents beauty.Β

Very pretty, but ever since I went to China, I've always kept a watch on the lions in Asian doorways to see if they're correct. Sorry, but yours aren't. The lions guard the doors, and there's always a male and female. The male is on the right, and the female's always on the left. You can tell the difference because, instead of a ball, the lioness is holding her cub. Right now, you have two male lions, and that's bad luck.

Oh definitely!
Traditionally chinese weddings require 2-4 QiPao's (although nowadays it's only 1 qipao)
Usually you a QiPao for the reception, then your wedding dress (mostly western themed), then a chinese-inspired dress (like mulan) for the after party and most have another one for the end part where you take traditional vows, drink wine, ride off into the sunset etc.
It's going be a some years before my wedding but these dresses take a god awful amount of time to get made (////flails in a corner)

And kind of sweet too, my mother tells me that in ancient times, the dresses would either be handed down or hand-sewn the mother of the bride
As my mother said 'it's one of the last gifts her mother can give her that would be truly hers, the mom would put all her love into making a wedding dress for her, even if the family was poor, so that the bride could have something to cherish and to remind the bride of a mother's love"

Beautiful art! My only critique is that the foo dog on the left is usually the female, and instead of a ball under her paw it's a baby foo dog. It's how you can tell she's a female and represents motherhood (:
