Every morning, after taking a shower and putting on her underwear, Stéphanie slides her pelvis into the socket of her electric cart right next to her bed. There is hardly anything left of her thighs, just two small rounded bulges under her buttocks. A pressure on her smartphone and her pelvis is locked inside the socket. Pressing the smartphone and the jack lifts her to the height she was when she was on two legs. She chooses a dress from the closet and pulls it on. She can then go to her store by controlling her cart using the touch screen or voice control on her smartphone.
The jack is automatic controlled to maintain her vertical also when going from the sidewalk to the street. The jack has two preset positions: "standing" or "sitting", but Stéphanie can also control other heights with "up" and "down" commands. It gives her more mobility than a classic wheelchair where she sits in. When she speaks to a customer, she has quite the same eyes level as her.
Her smartphone is usually suspended from a cord passed around her neck. She briefly took it off for the photo.
