Gorgeous, and I love the story to go with it. It does have that sense of motion, like something coming to rest as those tendrils reach out to draw it downwards.

Colouring and reflections are easier in Mandelbulber than MB3D. All else is harder

I'm glad U like it. Thank you! There's a few more Mandelbulber pics (of mine) to be submitted. Then I'll propably run MB3D for a while, starting as the total newbie again.

I'm sure you will do amazing, I never tried mandelbulber

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HanZeeman In reply to poca2hontas [2015-04-03 22:24:46 +0000 UTC]

Refections & colouring are easy in Mandelbulber - the rest is a challenge, the GUI prevents you from any overview.
Not for beginners! (so that's where I started with 3d fractals) - MB3D is much kinder to users & faster.

I haven't got the new MBD version, think I will stick with this one till I am better

What version do U use? 1.8 is the same as I use, no?
Hmmm - What do you mean 'better'? I think your fractals are spectacular, personal and interesting, and it's not a competition.
Noone is 'better' at poca2hontas-stuff than you. And U rock, Imho!

poca2hontas In reply to HanZeeman [2015-04-04 01:46:56 +0000 UTC]

Many thanks, Jorge! Much appreciated and heartwarming.
I have a period of poor inspiration and produce mostly crap. Few things gets rendered, and fewer are worth showing. - There's a couple in sta.sh I still think about..

Hope you're right, my friend! - As U propably noticed, I took a break from the 'visual arts' after the Nadir series.. Spent a lot of time switching operative system to gnu/linux Mint 13 KDE. (Are U a free software freak too?) Got my Mandelbulber back so I can use my settings..

Good news: Figured out how to run MB3D (.exe) for Windows under Linux using 'Wine'! Got the 1.8.9 x2 version, and it seems to work fine.
Time for test runs, to study manuals, and tutorials like yours too. Plenty to learn, again!
Lotsa to ya bro!

Glad to see you back Hans! Good choice of Mint KDE. Quite old, but maybe one of the best releases. Used this version more then a year or so and now switched to Fedora gnome3 four months ago
MB3D works well under Wine, never had big troubles with it. Good luck with it!

I'm not quitting dA yet..Β Β Β  Thanks for caring, Jorge!
When I first joined I didn't realize dA was such a social site.
Now I've come to see my 'friends' and 'watchers' as family (almost).

Gnome 3 is nice - Fedora, I never tried, will take a look..
- Yeah, Mint 13 KDE is old (2012) and my computer is older, they seem to like each other.
Newer versions are too resource hungry.

MB3D is one wicked piece of software It's a great gift to the world to make it available for downloading.
Kudos to everyone involved in its development!
I also see how it can be addictive
Free software rocks!

batjorge In reply to HanZeeman [2015-04-03 19:36:22 +0000 UTC]

Glad to hear it Hans! It is more a social site with art then art with social
On Linux you can choose many desktop enviroments as you know for sure.
KDE is certainly a bit heavy for smaller/older computers but the avantage that you can disable the desktop effects and run it decently, wich you cannot
in other 3D acceleration needed desktops like Gnome, Unity or Cinnamon. After using Lmint 15 KDE for some time I've switched to Kubuntu, who runs KDE much more better as mint does. Good idea is to try out different liveusb distros to see how, before installing any of them
MB3D is a great piece of software and Jesse made a priceless contribution to the world

Hear, hear! Social ok,
but I didn't join dA to publish my private sphere, That's Facebook, I believe...

Agree with all U say about GNU/Linux systems.
I always turn off desktop effects - quit Ubuntu because Unity was too buggy and froze the machine.
sooo,... pretty happy with this OS sofar.
Be well

HanZeeman In reply to CmdrChaos [2015-02-16 17:21:00 +0000 UTC]

That's my little pleasure, Steve, no need to mention it.
Sometimes I forget where colours come from, making 4-5 versions of each render with different maps. So I may well use your maps without mention at times.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CmdrChaos In reply to HanZeeman [2015-02-16 17:33:47 +0000 UTC]

I usually don't mention for maps as no one can tell where they came from anyway! Besides I have my maps grouped by the artist that up-loaded them + my own = about 650 of them!
