Special Thanks:
for some suggestions early on
for teaching me the magic of manipulations, as well as giving some dead on tips that really helped me learn what I know today. You're the best man.

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

I don't really know what to say because i love the picture. I just feel that maybe you could add some wisps of the magic coming through the door, maybe shaped like hands beckoning you to come with them. The vision is phenomenal, because you are forced to peer into a world that is much different than the one you feel like you are in. I can't say it is entirely original because it reminds me of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. (I hated that movie by the way, but the thing i did like was the archways and the corridor.) you captured a place that most HP fans will feel is exiting the world of magic into a more free willed magic world. The technique is great, much better than i could do, but i feel like you could add something, like the aforementioned hands reaching to pull you in. The impact is phenomenal, and I think that all it needs is a little aura at the surroundings of the arch that lighten up where you are and make you want to get away from the area you are in. You could use some cool reds auch as alizarin crimson or the computer alt for that to make the area you are in seem threatening, thus making the world in the distance much more appealing.

I must say this artwork strikes me as an excellent piece, and i don't mind if you think my opinions are ridiculous. I hope i was fair and justified what i said, and i hope you continue to submit such great works in the future.

Kudos for you, and hopefully all of us artsy people will improve and become known, even if it is after death. leaving something behind to keep your presence known is much better than leaving someone behind who desires to forget you.

*Sigh* If only it was as simple as stepping through a door to escape this world. This is a beautiful piece!!!

Mhm, it's definitely a good start. The problem I see here is the different levels of contrast: Talking about realism the landscape which is very far away should be less contrasted and saturated. It's quite the opposite case here; the parts near to the viewer should have had much more contrast and darkness to make him believe it's actually real.

Thanks! What I did with the new version (Which is up right now) Is lowered the contrast in the door by 50 3 times, and upped the contrast on the doorway by about 20, and used dodge tool to produce some lighting on the doorway. Is it enough to be able to get lost in the image?

Thanks a lot by the way kire, I'll credit you for the great suggestion.

Agreed with hockeydude. It does seem a bit "dark" where the gate is suppose to meet the world. Shouldn't it be with flowers since everything is magical? Or maybe magic
is suppose to be sorcery and stuff.

like it, but the only thing that seems weird is where the path meets the magic ground, looks disporportionate.

Very nice, only issue is your not taking atmosphere into consideration. Even if the earth were touching the planet, you wouldn't see it that clearly. There should be a strong atmosphere gradient in between the planet and the landscape. Try putting the planet layer on "screen" or use gradients yourself to try to blend in the planet.
