Very well captured, the focus is very squarely on the toy itself, which is tilted at an interesting angle and well framed by the background. The background, although out of focus, makes for an interesting balance, with the left side seeming much busier than the right. The HDR looks to have been shot well, the detail is crisp and I don't see any ghosting at all. There's a fair bit of clipping in the shadows and highlights both, but it works to create a very dramatic look lighting wise. The tone mapping does a really good job of bringing out all of the details on R2D2s' body. The slightly red tones in the background make for an interesting contrast with the blue on the droid. My only critique would be that the background is a bit noisy around R2. Tone mapping tries to bring out detail in everything, so when it processes an area of fairly even tone it often brings out noise instead of detail. When you're in the tone mapping screen, there are smooth highlight/shadow options that can help a little, although if you aren't careful you'll lose some detail in other areas in the process. With it being out of focus you could pretty easily blur/run noise reduction in those areas in lightroom, unless the effect is intentional. All in all, well done e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

thanks allot for taking the time to make a detail critique. This was my first go at using Photomatix so for sure have some learning to do. Up until now I have tried to do all this with layers in photoshop and Lightroom which this really helps speed up the process and gives you allot of good tools. I am going at photo techniques and editing techniques hard and heavy so some times I may get impatient. I say continue to challenge me and if it looks and sounds like a duck then call it a duck. I rather you call me out today and I build strong skills than spare my feelings and end up average, again thanks

no worries, I'm happy to help if I can. Photomatix is very powerful, but there are also a whole lot of sliders to get used to .Ā  A lot of them are very similar to lightroom/camera RAW which makes it a bit easier, but others are very much their own thing.
