Description The black haired boy standing in the rain,
everyone else, was running away to shelter.
We stood in awkward silence, his face
covered by his hair.

He has full lips that were curved at the edges,
between smiling and crying, they were beaut-
iful, they were human. There was pain.

His teeth were crooked, but were clean white.
They made white look dirty, they made my
scleras look like watered honey with red veins.

He saw me looking at me and took slow steps
to me.
His voice was warm, a fire in the cold of the
rain.
"The last leaf is going to fall off," he said ges-
turing to an old oak tree.

We stood in silence.
His eyelashes looked soft, barely real. I want-
ed to reach out and blow them away, as if th-
ey were dust.

He smiled, it was sincere and unsettling
Every time his eyelashes fell to his
smooth cheeks, I saw water droplets collect an-
d cut his cheekbones.

I started crying, and he cut my cheeks with his
nails.

I smiled, it paled in comparison to his.
