Emery was more than excited for the upcoming WHA show, as it was her element. Rodeo energy was the best adrenaline rush that the 26-year-old had experienced, and the surrounding landscape made the long drive all the more worth it. She had been able to take the 8-horse rig since OCF had 4 representing riders, each with horses that they were riding. There was Brynn with her personal mare, Prada; Kate with her two upcoming barrel stallions, Dollar and Judge; Eli with an upcoming barrel stallion, Reaper; and Emery with Churro and a leased training project, HR Shake 'Em. The drive to the venue was long, but the entire journey was memorable. With various wildlife along the highways and fields full of horses and cows, Brynn, Eli, and Austin were all enamored with the Canadian environment. When they finally got to the ranch, the girls started setting up the temporary fencing, having the mares on one side of the trailer and the stallions spread out in their trailer spot. First out of the trailer was HR Shake 'Em, as she was the lightest and they needed to make sure she wouldn't be injured on the drive over in the case one of the studs decided to act out. She came out with her Lisa-Frank-esque fly mask and sheet, snorting at the new smells and crisp Canadian air. Second off the trailer was Churro, as he was the calmest hauler in the group and the least likely to take notice in the roan mare on the trip up north. His pink fly mask covered his curious expression, but the ear covers showed where his ears were focused with ease. His long forelock looked like a rat's nest from the air flow in the trailer and Judge's timothy hay kindly made an appearance, and Emery frowned as she picked stems of grass out of the newly formed locks. "God dammit, Kate. Judge decided to help style Churro's hair and I had him all cleaned for the show..." She said with a sigh, giving a soft and disappointed look to her favorite stallion as he nickered to his partner in crime, still tied in the trailer.

Judge was next, who was then followed out by Prada, Reaper and finally Dollar. The boys were easy to settle in, as soon as they got their delicious hay and fresh water from home, they were happy. The ladies were less than impressed with their newfound situation, and they were both refusing their water. Brynn had thought ahead for Prada's case and had packed her mare's favorite Gatorade and some bagged portions of grain. Both of the girls pricked their ears towards the plastic crinkling and let out a soft nicker, begging for the small amount of grain. Brynn grinned mischievously as she had won the mares over, and they were impatiently standing in the middle of their hay piles while they waited for their slave to feed them. After the mares were finally awarded their oats, Emery got to work on Churro's long mess of a forelock, hoping to be able to salvage the hard work she put in the morning before. She scolded herself, she braided his mane and tail, why couldn't she have braided his forelock too? Thankfully Churro was a patient boy and fell asleep while Emery worked on the tangles, and after nearly 45 minutes, she was left with a shiny and silky forelock again. "He's definitely out of reining lines, that's for damn sure." Emery remarked, more so to herself as the rest of the group were sitting under the awning together. She crouched under the fencing and made her way to the group, spray bottle and mane comb in hand.

After they waited for a while, the ladies all heard the barrel racing announcements, and they each grabbed their horses and tied them to the trailer within the respective stalls. Emery grabbed Churro's tack and set it on the ground, cautious as to not get her new pink pad dirty on the topside. She gave the roan stallion a quick brush down before gently putting the pad on his back, perfectly on the first try. She then lifted her roughout saddle up over his back and placed it down, detaching the cinch, back cinch, and the breast collar from the various places on the saddle. After she fixed everything to be comfortably snug, Emery put his pink sport boots and bell boots on and grabbed his bridle from the handy trainer's tack storage. She untied Churro and led him from out of his stall, noting that she was the first rider tacked up in her group. As she mounted Churro from the ground after bridling him, since he wasn't a very big guy, she smirked and called out to the other 3 ladies. "C'mon slowpokes, my grandma could tack up faster than all three of you!" Emery snorted as she imagined her 70-year-old grandma tacking up one of the horses and promptly beating Eli or Brynn. As she made her way towards the warm-up ring, new faces caught her attention. Time to show them what a good run looks like, at least she hoped for one anyway. She knew the chances of a good run versus a bad run were about 50-50, but in her experience, Churro had been staying very consistent and had pulled a few wins in the small local gameshows and barrel races that she had taken him to. Now was the time to see if he truly was as consistent as he was showing himself to be.
