Day 6 of the Inktober challenge and my theme of "Animals". I really like all big cats, so what better than drawing one for this challenge.
Created in pen and ink using Copic multiliners and black india ink, with Dr PH Martin's Hydrus liquid watercolours to add a splash of interest and colour. If you want to see my black/white version of each drawing, please check out my Instagram (www.instagram.com/deefa_doris/ )

Wonderful how you captured the fur and the tiny details with those hairs sticking out on the chin or the longer hairs above the eyes. And I like how you used the same blue that you coloured the eye with for the shadows on the mouth and chin. (As well as on some other parts I think, but those can probably only truly be appreciated watching the original. Scanners and cameras can be cruel sometimes. )

Thank you again for your very nice feedback. It is good to be appreciated I love big cats and the colour of the eyes drew me to this particular reference
I like to tie different elements of the picture together by using the same colour here and there rather than random choices of colours. I always give that a lot of thought

So do I. Before I start painting I usually plan quite a bit which colours to use, lining the bottles up next to one another and thinking. Also how the colours will look mixed with each other. I once experimented by only using two complimentary colours and white to paint one piece.
But even when not mixing them, letting colours show up in different places to tie the parts together, as you said, makes it more like a tapestry and less like a lineup of colour, doesn't it?

I agree I do like working in black and white but colour is very effective when used correctly
